Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

How about not cracking your molar, avoid that all all costs. I am sitting in the dentists office awaiting a crown as I type.  I get two kinds of pain from this: the actual digging into my mouth kind and the $600 or so it's going to cost me,  right here at Christmas no less!

Ouch, i feel for you.  i just cracked my next-to-molar yesterday, a giant piece of tooth and filling fell out, now it feels like the Grand Canyon in there.

Have them play some Joe in the dentist office and that will help get you through!

we already learned this from JB's experience, never hand your prized git fiddle over to an airline unless it's packed to the gills. I'd like to see the end of this story, to see how Delta plans on sh*tting a vintage ES-335. a "hockey themed" band ??? then
maybe he should be playing a way less expensive guitar and leave the vintage ones at home.

nobody should ever ever boil water in the microwave! that's something to avoid...
i know many that do, and this occured to only one where the water exploded into bubbles in his face when he got it out of the microwave... fortunately his reflexes were fast and he wasn't seriously burned... but only one case in enough for me!

MEXICO - I know everybody has probably seen this story, but it just goes to show how a perfectly innocent person can be unlawfully detained due to police or military corruption. Don't vacation there, there are too many other destinations not nearly as dangerous. The west coast of Mexico used to be pretty safe, not anymore now. No telling how much this cost them to get her freed, it could have been a lot worse if our gov and the rep from Arizona had not gotten involved.

Totally agreed. Corruption of the police in general and border people.  I imagine they are paid so low that bribery is a way of life.

I used to frequently drive down to do work in Ensenada, Mx. Not any more. The freaking drug gangs have marked police cars  and pull over tourists and rob them at least.

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

really, really hot hot sauce. Common sense would tell you not to "spike" anything with sauce that contains up to 1.5 million Scovill units, but also you can't just leave it lying around in the kitchen where children or their friends could get a hold of it. You are begging for a lawsuit. My brother gave me a bottle of Dave's Insanity sauce a few years ago, eventually had to throw it away. Keep this stuff on a top shelf, better yet lock it up with your prescriptions or guns.

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

Call me crazy, but Dave's Insanity is definitely not as hot as it gets, at least where I'm concerned.  I collect hot sauces, and I take them seriously.

Staying safe where kids and friends are concerned is always a priority, though.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm not the one they ask, to see if something is "hot".  I'm a true nut, when it comes to heat, but pranks like the one you linked to are out of the question.  They happen all too often, just like kids who try to eat ground cinnamon, on a dare.

Serious scoville units are definitely cause for caution, even for someone who has an addiction.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

I payed the price. I have a nice nest of paper wasps in the eaves on the bedroom deck. Benign, non-agressive and beneficial, since they kill all the bad bugs in the garden. The Spring starter hatch has begun to die of old age. I stepped on one and received a nice sting on the end of a toe! Don't do that. yikes They rate  insect stings from 1 to 5. These get a 5. sad

80 in a 65 in BF TX.  $240 plus traffic school to avoid points on my license.  UGH

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

I feel your pain Mike, and believe I know what BF stands for. I won't drive 80 unless it's very brief just to get around somebody. Accidents at this speed can be much worse than at 70-75. Also like to save on gas, 80 burns it faster.

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

Actually JB was on, but the rest of the story is that I was traveling home from seeing my sister in Wichita, KS and when you cross from OK into TX, the speed limit goes to 75.  So I put the cruise on 80 figuring no-one will pull me over for 5 over.  So I'm driving along and aparently missed the sign on the outskirts of Sanger TX saying the speed limit was 65.  8 years since my last ticket.

Re: Random Things In The World To Avoid

a heartbreaking near gold miss at the winter Olympics for USA women's hockey. with 55 seconds left in the third period Canada scored a goal to tie it at 2-2. They went on to win 3-2 in overtime. Oh, the agony of defeat, still a silver medal is totally acceptable. Way to go girls!!!
