Topic: Road Trip USA

Hi everybody,

Finally after 3 weeks I had the chance to get on a computer and write down a little bit about my road trip through the USA.
We started off in San Francisco wich was a very nice city. Spent 2 days over there.
We went to Alcatraz and Pier 39 wich was fun.
Than we drove along the coast to Monterey. From there we drove to Yosemite NP,where we saw a mother and cub black bear (really great).
Then we drove trhough Death Valley NP to Las Vegas where we spent 3 days. Great city, lots of things to see and really crowded but we had fun (no luck with poker sad ).
Then we drove to Arizona where we saw the Grand Canyon (amazing).
Then we drove up to Utah and saw a couple  more National Parks(Zion,Bryce Canyon,Capitol Reef,Arches and Canyon Lands).
After that we drove down to Arizona again through Navajo Indian Territory to Monument valley wich was amazing to see.
We drove up to Colorado and saw Mesa Verde and Rock Mountain NP (with a lot of wildlife, such as Elk.)
Yesterday we arrived in Denver and on Monday we'll fly back home. We have to get up early because our flight will depart around 7am.
We made a lot of pictures which I will post on my website when i get back.
Really love this country.

By the way, when we where in a guitar shop today in denver (i was wearing my blues-rock shirt) one of the salesmen came up to us and told us that Joe had bought a 12 string guitar there just a couple of weeks ago. What a coincedence. (ps. How does it play Joe wink ? )

Re: Road Trip USA

Marianne, I've been thinking about your adventure and I'm glad to know you had fun . You covered alot of territory and saw some of this country's beauty! Hope you come back and do some East Coast exploring in the future....Cathy

Re: Road Trip USA

Hi Marianne, you weren't kidding when you said you were gonna see America. That's an amazing amount of destinations you two covered. Too bad you didn't reverse your plan and end out west in Norcal, you could have seen some of the best shows Joe has done to date around here. You drove right past the club right on the side of Hiway 1 in Santa Cruz where Joe played Thur. night. Don't worry Shred and I are always available as tour guides in case your boyfriend overcomes his shyness in the future.

Re: Road Trip USA

Hey Marianne,
Sounds like a great trip! Can't wait to see the photos. The story about the 12 string guitar is true. I had brought up the subject of Joe's new 12 string on the forum and Joe himself said it was purchased in Denver just recently. Check it out: http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3483. Have a safe trip home!

Re: Road Trip USA

Finally after 2 flights and 6h waiting in between I'm home.
really saw a lot during my trip. Really loved Utah (such a  variaty in it's landscapes).
I'm going to put my pictures on line tomorrow.

We weren't able to see Joe play because his trip was a little different than ours. When we started in SF, he was playing in Colorado and after we left California Joe played there a week later. If I knew this earlier we could change our plans, but we already booked the flight and car rent in Feb.

Re: Road Trip USA

Hi Marianne and welcome back.  I'm sat here looking at a map of the USA and it sure looks like you covered a lot of miles on your roadtrip.  Do you know how many?  A friend of mine went to San Francisco last year and came back with nothing but good words to say about it.  He was really impressed.  Visiting the Grand Canyon one day is one of my dreams but until then I'll look forward to seeing your photographs.

Re: Road Trip USA

Marianne-Wow, what a nice trip!  When you were at the Grand Canyon, did you walk out on that glass bottom projection over the canyon?  It's new and wasn't there when I visited, but must be amazing to look through the glass out over the canyon.
