He is one of few I would travel far and wide to see. So far Joe is the one I have travelled the furthest for, I would have no problem going a great distance for a live performance.
Anyone know what musical direction it might be in?Floyd like?
I just hope his wife doesn't write the lyrics *cringe*...
God only knows. lol.....his last album was ok ; a bit floyd like but if he tours he does mostly Pink stuff and it's a great show................does songs like Echo's etc and basically the same light show which is fine with me. And Roger's solo tours are always great. Personally, I think Roger's solo albums are better than David's.
This is an example from his last album, not one of my faves but.....

I'm interested in anything Mr Gilmour does. With Crosby & Nash on board it's a fair guess the new release won't be too dissimilar in style to "On an Island" which I liked but it didn't wow me.
Yah, I felt the same way but like you, I've always loved him and his playing. We'll see and if he tours, I"d love to go. Just to see/hear Comfortably Numb alone would be worth it.

I was lucky enough to see him play in London many years ago. Naturally they finished off with Comfy, but in between we had a few Syd songs (Terrapin ++) and classic Floyd and Gilmour compositions. He's one of the few musicians who can kill you with a single guitar note.
Dave is one of my all time faves.....period.....i think he and roger both are genius as what they do and their music has been a big part of the soundtrack of my life.
Oh I totally agree, I've loved them since the 70's and the Wall is my favorite album of all time. Saw the Gilmour Pink band 5 times here in NY. Amazing and the best light show ever. It's too bad they couldn't work out their differences and tour again. I would be there in a heartbeat.
Music can really get you through some pretty bad times and heal your soul
Tracked down this thread following the news that Pink FLoyd are to release a new album in October (http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-28191174) although for Pink Floyd I guess read Mr Gilmour. That's according to David's wife on Twitter, with the album to be called Endless River. That'll do for me.
What I can't get over is that it's 20 years since the release of Division Bell (20 years, heck ...)
Apparently, this are old songs/music from the past, a lot of which is instrumental??? Not sure I want to go this route but if he tours, I will definitely see him
Vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson, who has toured with Gilmour and Pink Floyd, subsequently shared some further details. "The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled The Big Spliff that Nick Mason spoke about)," she wrote on Facebook. "David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then." That "Big Spliff" session was described in Mason's memoir Inside Out, where he called it "ambient mood music" akin to "bands like the Orb".
According to McBroom-Hudson, The Endless River "was originally to be a completely instrumental recording". But Gilmour gradually changed his mind, inviting McBroom-Hudson to record backup vocals last December and adding more singing since then. Gilmour has "done a lead on at least one [track]," she said, and Samson, who co-wrote seven of The Division Bell's tracks, described herself on Twitter as one of The Endless River's lyricists.
In addition to finishing Pink Floyd's 15th studio album, Gilmour is also allegedly still working on a new solo album. And McBroom-Hudson said that the band could indeed mount a new tour. "STAY TUNED," she wrote. When Pink Floyd last hit the road, in 1994, it was the highest-grossing rock tour in history.
