Topic: Ana Popovic

Caught Ana Popovic at Darwins in Marietta, GA last night.
Have to honestly say for my first time seeing her
she was great.
Excellent player. Great slide. Great leads. Great Fender tone.
What else could you want?

Re: Ana Popovic

Pretty easy on the eyes as well.  Yep, you summed it up perfectly.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Ana Popovic

I've never seen Ana perform live but I've seen her DVD and that woman has great stage presence.  If you watch any of her interviews she is wise beyond her years and very well spoken.  I will catch her sometime when she comes to Chicago.  I missed her awhile back due to a Joe show the same weekend.  I have my priorities straight. wink

Right you are Fret, right you are!! I know you're going to the Wasau show. Are you planning on coming down for Milwaukee too?

Roy

Roy,
Unfortunately I'm only able to attend the Wausau show.  It was a toss up between that and Green Bay.

Re: Ana Popovic

after reading an article about her back in 2003, I decided to look her up and listen to some music...it was just OK for me. I'd love to see her in concert though! I'm sure I'd enjoy it more than a studio recording.

NPB,
Some of her stuff is really "out there" and not the easiest to listen to.  She has a very heavy jazz influence which can be heard in her chord voicings, which is downright impressive to me--even if it's not my favorite.  I do not own any of her CDs, but I did enjoy her DVD of her playing live and will make the time to see her play when she comes back to Chicago.  Check out the song, "My Man" (I believe it's from her Ana! CD).  It has more of a blues/rock feel.  This one's my favorite.  Let me know what you think.  To me, her vocals sound better on some songs than others.  Sometimes she sounds a little "rough", but I guess some people like that.

The two songs I own are "Navajo Moon" (which is like an SRV tribute) and My Man. It's good. I'd see her in concert, I need no convincing. I was just saying my jaw didn't fall to the floor.
