Topic: Question on title track of new CD...

Called up XM radio Fri and reqeusted Slo Gin. Bill Wax ( good guy I feel) told me it was already in the the Q and to listen for it later in his Fri request show.
Anyway, later in the show I heard Slo Gin...My confusion centers around the fact instead of "so dam lonely" I could have sworn I was hearing F*#+ing lonely. The music itself sounded like Joe but the vocals did not. Maybe someone can clear this up for me. Two versions?...I have to tell you i think the song is great without the F word...

Re: Question on title track of new CD...

Probably was the Doug Henthorn "alternate" version that was originally done. It's on Doug's myspace site. Didn't know that it was an actual release that could played on any kind of radio though.

Re: Question on title track of new CD...

Hey Rhoovis,
I think it was my e-mail request for the song that Bill played. I knew right away it was the alternate version as sung by Doug Henthorn. I sent Bill an e-mail stating that it wasn't the cut from the CD as it was released. I also mentioned that the CD version has Joe singing, was much better in my opinion and did not contain the "f" word. Bill replied to me stating it was an advanced copy of the CD that he took the song from. He also mentioned that he would not play the song again. I don't know if he meant the alternate version that he played on Friday or if he meant the song altogether. I'm going to see if I can't get a copy of the official release sent to them.

Re: Question on title track of new CD...

Thanks for the clarification Lee - My ears weren't playing tricks on me... I was confused primarily because I waited til the set of music was over and Bill Wax said it was Joe's version that he had played. Honest mistake I suppose...I feel better now. The version was fine ( not as good as Joe's though). I would have done what you did and made them aware it was the wrong version.
Props to XM as they seem to playing their share of Joe these days...the fans demand it!

Re: Question on title track of new CD...

Rhoovis:  Further clarification:  The song you heard is Joe playing guitar, the only difference is that Doug Henthorn is singing the vocals.  Hope that doesn't further confuse you.  FYI, he is the same Doug Henthorn that did the vocals on "Tea for One" from the "You & Me" CD.

Re: Question on title track of new CD...

Had a listen on Myspace.
I think the F word just completely ruins the song.
I'm so glad that Joe did the vocals on SG.
Love the wah guitar near the beginning.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that originally they were going to have Doug sing Sloe Gin on the actual CD, not sure what happened to that whole idea... I love the way Joe sings it anyways- and it is much better with out the "f" word... I actually think that damn fits the song better- it has a much better rhythm in the chorus with damn...
