OK, listen to this...seriously. If you like music at all, I want you to go out and buy or order Oli Brown's newest album release called, "Here I Am"! A Man who starts an album with the title track, which also happens to be my favorite song of his ever, must have stones as big as Coconuts! wink But that's exactly what Oli did on this album and from beginning to the last song, this album is guaranteed to satisfy your every Blues/Rock need! Here's how to order off of Oli's website so please, do it for Yourselves! smile

Re: Oli Brown Band 2012 North American Tour

...been an Oli fan for a couple of years now! ...first discovered him after watching one of the lovely Tripsy video's ...this one!

Oli is about 19 or 20 here!? ...its been great watching over this past short period, seeing develop musically and personally ( got a beard now in Ric's pics  lol ) ...he is a lovely lad too, very personable and unassuming, giving in his time and always willing to accommodate his fans needs ...his current Tele he built form parts he told me ...and with the addition of some 'toys' on his pedal board his sound has developed too ...and much to my liking! ...often to myself in the past have thought 'would love to hear this kid turn up the raunch a bit' ...and he has done that it seems and i think this is a turn in the right direction as he seems to be really excelling himself lately ...this video from the recent Montreal gig illustrates that...

...nice that Oli put my vid on his home page ...cheers Oli! ...the title track 'Here I Am' previously mentioned can be listened to here..

...catch Oli if you get the chance ...he gets better all the time! ...with Wayne and Scott this band is worth keeping an eye on! wink

Re: Oli Brown Band 2012 North American Tour

Have to agree there Pete; I've caught a good number of Oli's gigs since my first a couple of years ago, and never come away disappointed, even from some venues where the sound quality has been less than okay. He's one of those guys who's personality can lift a room, and as you say, there's no edge on him when you catch him off stage. (Mind that's true of a lot of the up-and-coming young guns.) Also, he still has the attitude where he'll play to a bus queue if he could find somewhere to plug in.

I don't want to take anything away from Oli, or his ability, but he's also had the knack or good fortune to have solid backing behind him; Simon Dring before Wayne Proctor, Ron Sayer before Scott Barnes and Gary Rackham before Ron. It's testiment to Oli that he can attract these guys to play with, but it must also have done wonders for his learning curve.

If you like Oli then Ron Sayer is a must. He taught Oli how to play and I believe wrote 5 or 6 songs on his current album! really nice guy have had him on the road with us for a few gigs and hoping to do more in the furture. His band are sooooo tight.

I've been in touch with Ron a couple of times through the forum with venue info for possible gigs in this region and I've dropped his name round a few of the blues clubs, so fingers crossed. I've really liked what I've heard and seen on YouTube and I know Eldo also highly rates Ron and band. If VATA are swinging by Mainsforth again, bring Ron along.

Re: Oli Brown Band 2012 North American Tour

I got a call Friday telling me Oli was near this weekend. I don't know how I missed prior notification, but I headed north yesterday for a show at Steel City. I drove thru Lancaster County around 6 p.m. For those who wish to see the Amish, this is the time. The roads were full of the telltale signs...horse poop. There were carriages everywhere as well as many walking home on the road shoulders. It made me happy. Then I saw a few hot air balloons highlighted by the low sun. So, 1 1/2 hr later I arrived at Phoenixville. A young band, Riley Road, was thrilled to be the openers. Check the link below for more info. Great set. Oli and band took the stage a bit after nine and rocked the house. Oli never changes. He's always got a smile smile He's developed a rocker look that suits him, no pun intended. He played a modified Tele and tore it up! 13 songs in all including a finale with "Roxanne" for which he brought the guitar player from the opening band onto the stage, and he made that young boy's day! Funny that the 23 y/o was the "older" musician giving a hands up to a young'in. LOL Today Oli is off for some R&R in NYC. I can't wait for the next round of US shows. A def DON'T MISS!!!!    Cathy

Don't forget, Wayne has popped up on the drums with Ron Sayer a couple of times recently, too.

Wayne must be the only guy in this genre to put out nearly as many CDs as Joe, don't you think?
