Bubbling under King King and Ryan McGarvey at Kinross, The Nimmo Brothers in Edinburgh and The Thunder Christmas shows.
The best concert this year was back in January.

Easy Best 2 Shows
......... Michael
After a slow start, 2013 turned out to be a great year of live music for me. Here's my favourite shows (no order):
Joe Bonamassa - Shepherds Bush Empire (my favourite of the 3 shows I attended)
Joe and Beth Hart - Hampton Court (a magical evening)
Tedeschi Truck Band - Albert Hall (amazingly good show)
Royal Southern Brotherhood - Under The Bridge and RAH (I love this band)
Gov't Mule - Under The Bridge (it's Mule - brilliant)
Grace Potter - Bush Hall (wow, just wow - and I mean everything; Grace, the band and the music)
JJ Grey & Mofro - The Garage (super hot evening - both the temperature and the music)
Trombone Shorty - Koko (high energy funk/rock/jazz - huge fun)
Virgil and the Accelerators - O2 Islington (the lads just keep getting better and better - can't wait to hear the new album)
Best year gig wise for me to date, so many choices and s many discoveries via this forum. So big thank you to all of those responsible for all the great new artists. The highlights were in chronological order:
Joe Bonamassa Shepherds Bush Empire
The Black Crowes HMV Forum
Joanne Shaw Taylor The Borderline
Ryan McGarvey Beaverwood Club
Vintage Trouble Electric Brixton
Santana Wembley Arena
Fleetwood Mac 02 Arena
Royal Southern Brotherhd/Samantha Fish Under The Bridge
Dana Fuchs The Borderline
Tedeschi Trucks Band Royal Albert Hall
Virgil & The Accelerators 02 Islington 2 Academy
So many great gigs in 2013 it's hard to narrow it down to a few. This year with the exception of Mayer I have avoided the larger venues and stuck to the clubs. So in no order..
Virgil & The Accelerators - numerous venues in 2013 but seeing them rock Skegness main stage was cool.
Royal Southern Brotherhood - Sutton
King King - Numerous venues but stand out gig was opening night of the tour in Putney
Jonny Lang - Borderline
John Mayer - O2
The Hoax - Putney & Borderline
Gravesend Bluesfest - Larry Miller/The Mentulls & others
Marcus Bonfanti - Royal Albert Hall
Rival Sons - Shepherds Bush
Other notable mentions go to Joanne Shaw Taylor, Moreland & Arbuckle, Eric Steckel, Ryan McGarvey
Gigs I missed and kicked myself after
Govt Mule
JJ Grey
Tedeschi Trucks
1. John Mayer at the O2 London, one of the best shows I have seen so far
2. Rush - Clockwork Angels Tour including a String ensemble (!!!) - Cologne
Joe B - Royal Albert Hall
Muse - Emirates Stadium - London
John Mayer - O2, London,
- Wembley Arena - London
Which one of the JM shows did your prefer? Also, the Muse Stadium show must have been awesome!
I’ve seen around 300+ concert performances in 2013, by about 150 different bands. For many of these I was up close and personal, in the photo pit or at the side of the stage. It’s impossible to pick all my favourite shows, but some standout performances include:-
Thunder – both Christmas shows in Wolverhampton
Thunder – Club Citta, Tokyo
Rush – MEN
The Quireboys – Planet Rockstock, Gt Yarmouth
Tax The Heat – Planet Rockstock, Gt Yarmouth
The Union – Derby (recorded for live DVD)
Tracer – Bristol Tunnels
Eclipse – MelodicRockFest, Chicago
Joe Bonamassa – Royal Albert Hall, London
Camel – Barbican, London
All of these were fabulous performances by bands at the top of their game. However, the biggest spine tingling moment at a concert this year came before a note had even been played. It was when Andy Latimer of Camel stepped on stage and got a ten minute standing ovation from everybody in the venue. Just a few years ago he was seriously ill with a potentially fatal progressive blood disorder, so to see him back and performing was amazing.
