Topic: How Can You Distill 30 Years into A one Hour 20 Minute Disc?
I have to put together a disc for the funeral home by tomorrow. This has been a cathartic experience. My thoughts are what's to be on it; her music, my music, or both? In the end I've looked back and tried to remember what stood out. I freely admit here to all my friends that I'm running on a lean mixture of adrenaline. No appetite except for the numbing bliss of Colorado's Rocky Mountain Kool-Aid. The songs I've chosen and in order are:
1. If I Only Had A Brain/ Stephen Bishop
2. I Only Have Eyes For You/Art Garfunkel
3. He Ain't Heavy...He's My Brother/ The Hollies
4. Crystal Blue Persuasion/Tommy James & the Shondells
5. Gloria/The Shadows of Night
6. Souvenirs/Dan Fogelberg
7. Danny's Song/Loggins & Messina
8. Whenever You're On My Mind/Marshall Crenshaw
9. Something About You (Acoustic Version)/Level 42
10. Everybody Wants To Rule the World (iTunes Original Version)/Tears For Fears
11. The Dance/Garth Brooks
12. Go Rest High On That Mountain/Vince Gill
13. Wagon Wheel/Old Crow Medicine Show
14. Save the Last Dance For Me/Blake Mills & Derek Trucks
15. Good Day For the Blues/David Grissom
16. I'll Always Be Right There/Bryan Adams
17. Rose of My Heart/Hugh Moffatt
18. I'll Fly Away/Alison Krause & Gillian Welch
19. What a Friend We Have In Jesus/Leland Martin
20. Amazing Grace/Randy Scruggs
21. Jordan/Rival Sons
With the exception of "Jordan" which I just heard today, all the other songs my wife loved very much. This disc will be played Friday for the viewing. For the service Boscoe France will perform "Amazing Grace". I guarantee my wife will be listening to my dear friend play that song.
If anyone has another song to contribute then feel free to give it to me.
