Topic: Dolby

The day is finally here. The day I've been waiting months for. The show at the Dolby Theater should be great. My wife scored our orchestra pit second row center seat tickets. I don't think I can work today. I'll need to stay home and play all day while the neighbors are gone.

Taking my Blues Deluxe music book with me, maybe Joe will sign it?

Re: Dolby

Sitting front row at Joe's show is the greatest experience ever! My jaw was on the floor most of the time! Enjoy your night!

Yea, I'm looking forward, the day is dragging by. Going to try and soak up every use of his scale use that I can. I probably won't remember a single lick tomorrow.

Re: Dolby

Enjoy the show folks. This one was not in my books at the end of the road trip. Good luck on stealing Joe's licks. Once I get time I'll continue my uploads which have more than a few extreme close ups of Joe's flying fingers from front row center. I like to toss in a few of those for the players on this forum as a way to watch and either learn or toss the git in the bin. lol

Re: Dolby

From the tweets out there, sounds like this would have been the show to see! Hopefully someone captured it on video

Re: Dolby

This show was amazing and am so glad he did this type of set. We were so close I could reach out and touch it. I first thought, oh crap maybe we're to close. But that wasn't the case at all. I posted a few shots when we got there on Facebook. Then took the rest of the shots with an old Canon G9 that isn't worth crap in low light settings. But since we can't take SLR's in, this was the best I could do. When he announced Jack coming out I was look WHAT???? never would have thought he'd invite him. They were great together and it was cool seeing / hearing how completely different world apart they are, in a good way. I took my Blues Deluxe music book hoping he'd sign it. After the show we all stood and applauded and I held my book up. He looked at me and turned his head and kept walking... oh well. Probably my only chance to get it signed in this lifetime and I blew it.

For pictures I posted about 18 or so on my Facebook page. I wasn't about to deal with Photobucket uploading this morning. To much to do today like finishing up my leg tattoo today. That will kill 6 hrs. One other thing I wish i had done was walk around that area of Hollywood for awhile. I hadn't been up there in years and it could have been fun.

cheers

It was very cool, my jaw about hit the floor when Joe introduced him. Then after seeing and hearing him play live, I wasn't so much into the out of key shredding aspect. Made me fell like I was in Guitar Center on a busy Saturday afternoon. Not my cup of shred, but he is damn talented for sure.

Re: Dolby

I was at the Dolby theater show and got to go backstage and meet with Joe before the show. A friend was delivering a speaker for Joe. My wife and I bought Joe a bottle of wine, Heitz and hopefully he'll like it. What a great show and Joe had told us he was a bit under the weather that night; you couldn't tell by the show. Joe is a great guy and we talked about gear (guitar geekout) and he knows his stuff. He signed one of my JB Wah pedals for me and showed us his amps out on the stage. Loved the 2 Dumbles especially the new head & cab rig with the dumbleator & TC 2290 (RF rig). Joe's tone is so good and he just keeps getting better something that amazes me that someone at his level can still find ways to improve.

Re: Dolby

This was a last minute deal for me.  In fact, I did not buy a ticket until the doors were scheduled to open! And, I requested the very highest mezzanine, which are for the riff-raff during the Oscars, I suppose.  No seats higher in the theatre, and they are higher than the highest catwalk also!  I could see well. I could hear VERY well. Beautiful, elegant theatre.

Re: Dolby

Thanks Rocket. Great shooting from North Nosebleed! We had to pass on LA, and now I kinda regret it.

Re: Dolby

I caught that show as well, first live performance for me, and am relieved to hear that Joe WAS ill that evening , and it wasn't just my imagination.  I thought immediately that he was not his usual brilliant and energetic self.  Possibly end of a long tour exhaustion & sore throat. ??  Will keep on viewing his DVDs and wait for next performance here in LA.

Re: Dolby

What's the skinny on this TC 2290 (RF rig)?! hmm

ALL OPINIONS, except for the facts interspersed:
I give Joe kudos for putting himself out there, guy is tough.  Gratefully, I don't suffer sinus infections, but I have seen several loved ones suffer tremendously.  Like I said, kudos to Joe.  He's better than most, in that he still performs at a high level, every one, even when down a bit...slight slip? Bah, let it go...pro athletes should put forth such effort (yes, some do!) for their massive paychecks...but, some even best performances, actually,...of course, qualifying as only my opinions.

I thought it was a great performance by all, overall, and lo and behold I did take an informal but widespread exit poll, and I'd say, based on those, say it was a smashing night in Hollywood.  But I do tend to be an excitable boy... big_smile
