HoosierRock wrote:My Wife and I saw Dwight Yoakam last night at the French Lick Resort in Indiana. He was absolutely fantastic. Terrific young band with Eugene Edwards on lead guitar. It was high powered rockabilly thru cranked Fender and Vox amps. The bass player and drummer were a well oiled machine and the vocals were awesome. The baas player and the rhythm guitarist both sang great high harmonies. They did a killer version of Ring of Fire that sounded real similar to T Rex - Bang A Gong. It was much more high energy than I thought it would be. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
Well then, here's some euphoric recall fer ya, a one two-fer for you two and the others of Dwight Yoakum & Band performing Joe Maphis' "Dim Lights, Thick Smoke (And Loud Loud Music)" and Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Man" at the 2012 Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJJ-g_3Z9p0Extremely large crowds makes for long shots and lots of heads...enjoy. Dwight had cut his hand pretty badly (live), swore and sore pretty loudly, recovered nicely to face technical stuff...these guys held their own with a really good set. Kind of ironic to play songs about dim lights when you're outdoors, but the smoke was thick of a different fire, and instead of a honky tonk you got a huge festival crowd of many, many thousands...
