Topic: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

I saw Jim Suhler & Jason Elmore last night.

I asked Jim when his new collaborative CD titled Texas Scratch was going to be released (it was supposed to be Feb) and he said hopefully, April.

It is done but the "powers that be" are hanging on to it until they can get the PR/Marketing machine going. He said they don't want to release it and then have it go flat.
He said he really needs it out now!

I knew some of y'all were wondering about it, but unfortunately that's all I have to report. sad

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Looking forward to it. Keep us posted.

That's good timing.
In March I'll be busy hearing "DUST BOWL". Hope it will be in the post today. Come on postman.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Thanks for the input from me too.

RIP Iron Man

Rock On and keep the Faith

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

I really don't have an update..again...
But talking to Shawn Phares (Jim's keyboard player) Texas Scratch is still in everyones minds and hopefully won't be shelved permanently.

However, some good news...the band was going to be holed up at Shawn's house for a few days to work on another album.
Rockfarmer & I got a preview of some new material and I think it will be interesting.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Jimmy Shuler's Texas Scratch is actually compilation of Jimmy , Vince Converse  and Buddy Whittington ,switching lead and vocals depending on who wrote the individual tunes.  The CD is freaking fantastic, with Texas blues and little TX country twang on a few songs there is even one jazz number on it.  We really have no idea when it will come out ....dude has been setting on it for three years now.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Texas Scratch is a bad **** album, Jim Shuler, Vince Converse and Buddy Whittington all switch vocals and lead depending on who wrote the material. But Dude has been setting on it for three years now and we have no idea when it will come out so a prayer though for it is great.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Rumor from a pretty good source is the new album will drop Feb/Mar 2014.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Well I wish that rumor was true but Vince you see is my fiance' and I don't think the source gets any better than that do you think?  Plus, I have had many conversations with the dude in NYC that has the masters and is supposed to be putting them out which them is two albums TX Scratch and then Vince's album with all those guys and more big names playing as his band, these 31 songs are some of the music I have ever heard and it has yet to be mixed.
Like I said I wish that were true we are just not getting any straight answers we have even tried to buy the masters  but at this point we have yet to convince dude of anything.  He is the same guy that supposedly promoted but has ripped Vince off for 20 years now.  He is the samed guy that owned Blue storm music which he has closed says it is due to the hurricane but we, we meaning Vince, Jimmy Shuler, Buddy Whittington, myself, etc. know better This music was recorded in 2010 three years to marketing in place etc, etc, No way.  Everyone that is on the album is unbelievably upset with what has not happened.

OK Sanysweetconverse, We have an other artists thread here and as you know it is easily misused. You may not think you are but I do. Old thread resurrection to hi-jack and work your own special interest isn't cool here. I can delete all and ban if it continues. I'm sure you mean well but if we allow this type of behavior then it becomes a free for all.

Jim Suhler does have an album coming out and it isn't Texas Scratch. it will be out in March. how do I know? Jim told me. I have never heard of Vince now I have so mission accomplished. Move on or become part of this community. Where we are fans of Joe first fans of other artists second.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

My apologies for I thought you were talking about TX Scratch. Jim and Vince had talked I guess it was Thursday and Jim was asking about TX Scratch and never told Vince he had a new one coming out..

Believe me we love Joe Bonamassa he is one of the best there is.  He will be here is Houston I think it is Nov 27 and we are trying to get tickets.  My guy often sets at the computer practicing and learning from Joe and it is amazing the things Joe does with his fingers... Joe is awesome and hoping to get to see him on the 27th.

Re: Jim Suhler's Texas Scratch

Apologies accepted. Every musician needs somebody on their side fighting to get the word out. There is a certain etiquette you must follow when mentioning another artist and if not followed it can be considered a form of spam. Vince wouldn't want that I'm sure. We welcome you both here and join the family. Jim Suhler is family here along with many others and the Texas musicians like Vince, Jason Elmore, Alan Haynes, Mike Morgan to name a few and one of my favorites from Houston The Mighty Orq are all welcome here. Wes Jeans and Lance Lopez as well.
