Topic: Rodney and THOSE pipes

Yes, he sold out long ago, but inside beats the heart of a troubadour. I was actually searching for a version of 'Handbags and Gladrags' that could stand up against Kelly Jone's version and came across this again.

Apparently filmed on a roof in a 'Hof' behind some building in Hamburg. What persuaded him to do it, I don't know, but I'm glad he did.

In those early seventies there was no finer sight that Rod 'rolling' and rocking and this is a splendid example of his 'off the cuff' nature.

Gravedigging's loss was our gain, for sure.............

Re: Rodney and THOSE pipes

tis true Mike, his early solo albums and the Faces stuff are great, glad to have them in my collection. In fact, Handbags and Gladrags just came up on the PS3 couple nights ago. a classic voice for the ages for sure.

Re: Rodney and THOSE pipes

Roger, much obliged. I loved his early stuff and most the albums are packed away. I shall be getting this.

I liked that video so much that I did that version tonight at an open stage. I don't have Rod's delivery but I was very happy how it went over. Great songs stand test of time.

Looking forward to getting 'Rarities'.
