Topic: DVD Problems

Hi All

This is not what I wanted to do for my first topic

I am a great fan of Joe Bonamassa and have seen him play live too and just love his music. I have been so disappointed on two occasions now when ordering his dvd's. The last time was a Blu-ray disc of the Acoustic evening at the Vienna opera house the picture kept freezing making viewing impossible. sadly I had to send the disc back. I have now purchased the Tour De Force at the Royal Albert Hall and was looking forward to viewing it to night when it happened again.......the picture kept freezing again making it impossible to view again. I am so disappointed with this problem reoccurring, I have purchased other music concerts with no problems. PLEASE Joe can you look at the quality of the disc's you are getting, something is obviously not right here as I have seen this complaint on some Amazon reviews.

A very disappointed Fan. Has anyone else experienced these problem ?

Re: DVD Problems

Sounds like you need a better or newer DVD player.  The quality of the machines vary a lot.  I learned awhile ago that you get what you pay for.

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

Hi, I don't think its my Blu-ray player as it is only a year old and is a top of the range denon. All my other dvd's work fine.

Thank you for your comment

Re: DVD Problems

Hi Molly1 , you might try a Scotch brand CD laser lens cleaner. This was recomended to me by my buddy Paul who ownes Tube Research Labs, works great.

Re: DVD Problems

Hi Molly, I have experienced this once with the Live at the Beacon Theater dvd I ordered a little while back, it always freezes like 10 seconds into bird on a wire? I never sent it back, but just skipped the song and the rest would work fine. It might just be my dvd player, not quite sure but I do understand where you're coming from! I hope you get it resolved! I have no other issues with any other dvds!

Re: DVD Problems

I guess Joe runs the disc production factory now, sorry I missed that news? There was me thinking he was the artist who just spent hour after hour perfecting his art so as to play live and write songs. wink I joke.

Joe is an independent artist because the greedy multinational corporations are (sadly) less and less interested in real music but instead more and more interested in kids with the right "look". Therefore Joe's TEAM do not have the multi millions that say a Sony or Warner artist has, so perhaps 3rd party companies are used that are not as exacting or perfect as they should be? Perhaps their failure rate is higher? However the plus side of Joe's small team of management is that he as an artist is a lot closer to his fans. - My assessment of Joe, (from the outside looking in) is that he is a perfectionist when it comes to sound reproduction so I would assume the same would be said of his intention of DVD/visual reproduction so my guess is that he would not be happy if the discs are not as good as they should be especially given the effort he put into this series of gigs. However what you are buying is a reproduction, so as the consumer it is not Joe that has let you down but the distributor, send it back, get a replacement would be my advice. Good luck.

Re: DVD Problems

I own every studio cd, live cd and live DVD that Joe has released and have only had a problem with one: ANDY Live just freezes up towards the end of RU Experienced.
With so many issues in such a small sampling, it seems like a HUGE coincidence or an issue with your DVD player as others have mentioned.
