Topic: A tale of two gigs – part 2: You do like cows, don’t you Joe?
We live in a small village in the mountains and twice a year we have a village festival to celebrate the village cows going up to their high mountain pastures (spring) and then, er...coming back down again (autumn). So twice a year when Joe’s touring schedule is published we check excitedly to see if he’s going to play at the village festival...and every year our hopes are cruelly dashed.
You really should play at the festival Joe, you’d love it – there’s plenty of mooing, clanking of cow bells, dancing, drinking and music-making. You’d look great in leather shorts and one of those little hats with a feather in it – and to be honest a ’59 burst would make a pleasant change from the usual Alpine horns and accordions.
Maybe next time.
So, anyway, it looks like we’re going to have to hit the road again in spring – another gig, another country. After Prague this time round, we’re going for Basel in Switzerland in spring – nice cosy 1500-seater theatre-style venue.
Now I’m guessing that having heard all about our village festival, you’re sorry you’re not playing there now, aren’t you Joe? Well, all is not lost – the least we can do is provide you with a taste of what you’re missing. We’ll do a deal with you – you play a more bluesy set in Basel than you did in Prague this time and we’ll send you a box of our famous locally-made chocolate cowpats. If that isn’t enough of an incentive to dust off Blues Deluxe and the like, I don’t know what is!
And – it gets better – if you play So Many Roads, we’ll throw in a limited edition 2014 Cowlendar – it's like a calendar but with 12 pictures of, well...you know, cows...how cool is that!
I mean, you do LIKE cows don’t you Joe?!
Good luck with the US Fall Tour and we look forward to seeing you in Basel.
