Topic: RIP Beth Bennett

Many people here may not know Beth. She did not frequent the forum, but she was as big of a fan of Joe's as anyone.
Shortly after my first show in 2004, I joined the street team...then contacted the Illinois street team coordinator: Beth Bennett. We became friends and then met at Chord on Blues in St Charles, IL where Beth and her husband Matt met me and 5 of my friends for dinner and a Joe show.
Beth had just gone through cancer treatment successfully and told me how Joe's music had lifted her through tough times. We met for many shows over the years. Beth was a friendly, kind hearted person with a real love of life and people.
The cancer returned recently and although she fought it, Beth finally succumbed.
Although she didn't post here, she was one of us.
Please say a prayer for her and her family.
RIP Beth...I miss you already.

Re: RIP Beth Bennett

So very sorry to hear this Bill. We didn't know Beth as well as you, but we did meet up a few times with her and Matt, most recently in Chicago this past May. She was certainly a huge fan of Joe's and more importantly a really, really nice lady. My sincere condolences to Matt and Beth's family and friends including you Bill.

Re: RIP Beth Bennett

My condolences as well.  R.I.P.

Re: RIP Beth Bennett

This one hurts. Beth was very active in the early street team days, and even coordinated a showing of the ANDY Live DVD at a local college theater if I recall correctly. We developed a bit of a friendship outside of street team related activities and would exchange emails fairly regularly - although we had lost touch over that past few years. I remember having to send her husband Matt a Chicago Bears ballcap after losing a friendly wager on a Bears-Seahawks game. Beth was a big Oakland Raiders fan. She had a great sense of humor, and a warmth of personality that touched all who knew her. Beth had wanted my wife and I to come meet her and Matt when they were visiting the Oregon coast a while back but we weren't able to make it. I am profoundly saddened to learn of her passing, and feel a little guilty for not making more of an effort to stay in touch. We will miss you Beth - say hi to Garth for us.

You remember correctly Stu. Beth did indeed put on a showing of ANDY Live at the local college theater. That must have been in 2005 or early 2006. We had already met in person by that time and she invited my wife and me to come. Unfortunately, we had a conflict and couldn't attend...it must have been something important, because I was very disappointed I couldn't make it...would have been cool to see Joe on the big screen.

Edit: LMAO!!! Thanks for that pic Stu, that is SO Beth! She had such a great smile.

Re: RIP Beth Bennett

Thank you Stu for the heads up. I am very very sorry to hear of Beth's passing. She was a superstar in my world going back to the very beginning.  I can never repay the debt of gratitude I feel for her and people like Garth that we seem to be losing way to soon.  Rest in Peace...
Thank you Beth!

Re: RIP Beth Bennett

I met Beth thru Bill and she was a very kind hearted and loving friend. So is her husband Matt. She was so excited all the time to be a Joe fan!  She was particularly pleased with her front row seats in Chicago and the chance to get some great Joe pics! She commented that she might have been too close, felt like she couldn't risk the chance of her camera distracting Joe.  But she did send a couple of her favorites!  I will always remember her laughter and smile.  I had two instances where Beth sent me totally unexpected surprises!  Two tickets to a Joe show and the coolest guitar shaped purse with a note inside that said, "Every girl needs one of these!"   I'll carry her last message to me in my heart "love you to the moon and back!"

Love you to the moon and back too Beth!

P.S. I had the great fortune of meeting Garth too. He was one in a million, too!
