Topic: Brighton 28th September

On way home from Joe's final UK concert for 2013.
Same set list as other venues.
No special guests.
Sound was spot on apart from Dust Bowl but the sound engineer got his act together after that.
Thought the lighting and stage set was excellent.
Keyboards feature a lot more with the addition of Mr Sherinian
As ever, an outstanding performance from Joe.
I await the next tour.
Lester.

Hey Lester, glad the tour went out on a high. Better edit your post from Dennis to Derek though smile

Re: Brighton 28th September

...glad i went now seeing Joe said "see you in 2015" ....oh well.London has been well served this year and it s a big World out there!
...alterations to the venue were a plus as opposed to the previous gig there... sound and lighting were ex'! ...Joe's 'Jeff' style touches to the Dust Bowl solo was nice to see... the playfulness during Whos Been Talking was a joy... the funked up Yonders Wall was a pleasure... Midnight Blues with Gary's son,Jack.in the wings was wonderful... 2500 Sloe gins, tho excellent again, give me 25000 India-Django-Mountain Times... The final Latino-esque BOJH ended it all in style! ...looking forward to 2015! ...2014,not so much!

You little monkey Pete, whatever happened to Karma?  Temptation is not so easy to resist obviously!

Anyhow, very glad you went, we all  told you it would be a great show!

Cheers, Pete

Re: Brighton 28th September

Well what a day what a show .

We had a coach with 30 from Folkestone . All sorted, tickets sorted , coach on time one drop out work commitments a very happy daughter treated by her Dad at the last minute. Then the news M25 shut .......... coast road to Brighton is the journey from hell .

Off we go M25 open YES but as we get closer to the worlds best loved car park offers more problems . Driver decides a cross country route will work it did via some narrow lanes arrived safe in Brighton at 6.15

Really busy with hen nights some sorry sights to see  . Joe must have made it now with touts selling at £100 plus and fake t shirts for sale in the street .

Into the venue great atmosphere with ages from 15 - 70's Merch stall beckons  no programme again which is a pity .

Seats were great closer to mixer desk in the raised stalls very well booked by me thanks to the box office thanks ladies.  My party were very happy .

What a show lighting was very good agree with sound quality comments  once adjusted . Acoustic set was stunning with some idiots missing it and squeezing in with a beer during final song  .

Loved the reworked songs Joe was on form , when is he not ? Set list was full of classic songs and I would love a copy of this set on CD .

Encores went down a storm Sloe Gin story so funny .

Back on the bus all goes well until M25 closed a slow coach rather than Slow Train via a rural Kent road then M20 at Maidstone home in bed at 1.30 still buzzing now .

Would love a one off gig in 2014 ..... O2 arena London ????

Re: Brighton 28th September

Agree with all the previous posters - another memorable night in Brighton. Joe gave it everything as usual. I only got into Joe live a few years ago, but it seems to me that he gets better and better, which is no mean feat! Derek is a great addition to the band, Carmine & Tal solid as a rock as always.

Joe and the band were on form from the start to finish but my standout was 'Slow Train' - it brought a whole new meaning to the word barnstorming!

The other thing that really struck me last night was just what a great rhythm guitarist Joe is. I know that his lead prowess is there for all to see, but whether it was acoustic or full band his rhythm guitar was locked into Tal, Carmine & Derek effortlessly.

I didn't pick up on the 'see you in 2015' comment, let's hope Joe got his dates mixed up! But then again he works incredibly hard so I won't begrudge him a break if he decided to take one!

Once again, a big thanks to Joe and the guys for another great performance. As far as I'm concerned Mr Bonamassa, you are already right up there in the list of rock greats. Can't wait to see you soon!

Re: Brighton 28th September

I'm not surprised he won't be playing the UK next year as he's done a helluva number of shows in the last 3 years. He has built up a large fan base here and I would imagine he will conquer other countries next year. When he comes back, his new solo album will have been out for a few months so it will be a new show.

His live DVD with Beth is due out early next year. Perhaps they will tour to promote it.
