yeah, I knew he didn't like them. hoping it works, should help him in the field as well.

yeah Dawg, he is going to bite the bullet and go ahead with it rather than after the season. We'll be OK until he gets back, as long as Simmons (SS) doesn't get hurt. I hope the astigmatism really is the problem, and not just diminishing skills. I fear the latter is true.

Janey told me he's tried to play with contacts, but they're always a problem, so this was the alternative.

not MLB but I'm rather proud of this. My company furnished all of the metal doors and frames, wood doors, and finish hardware for the project. I still have not been there to see it, but was promised some free tickets a long time ago. sad
the Barons are affiliated with the White Sox organization, but back in the 60's it was the Athletics. I got to see the likes of Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, Bert Campaneris, Sal Bando, Blue Moon Odom, and many more.

terrible news for the Braves this morning, Jason Heyward gone for the year with a fractured jaw bone. It is also doubtful that he would be available for any postseason games. #devastated

You should be very proud!    I know from experience in upholstering antique wood boats, quality and detail counts every step thru out for the total project to be a success.

I will say some prayers for Jason Heyward.   Different circumstances, but I felt the same when Jeter broke his ankle.

It feels like a mule kicked you and left you on the ground.

The slimmer rejuvenated Panda made damn sure there wasn't gonna be a sweep...ya think???? Was Verlander pitchin' for the Pad's today???? Remember, the mighty who have fallen are wearing World Series rings. That excitement still hasn't worn off. 'scuse me I have to get back to the Indians game, there 2 outs away from beating the O's again. Make that 1 out. Make that 2 outta 3 from the orange birds! The Tribe has a very forgiving schedule the rest of the way.

Lost season......Gio cleared....Harper not fit, needs an operation....even the last playoff place is utopia, I haven't thought about it for months....like I said, lost season.

Too damn late, hottest team in baseball right now, but too much to do - 15 homers in the last five games, Zimmerman nine homers in the last 11 games, seven game win streak, won 18 of the last 23, just too damn late. Grrr!!!!

There's no "Better late than never" in baseball. Part of its charm. Losses to bad teams in April and May DO count, as the Royals are learning now to their sorrow (I said when it happened that two home losses to the Marlins on August 13-14 were going to haunt them, and they certainly are right now)...

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Standings are totally irrelevant when the Giants play the Dodgers. Last night SF took LA out behind the wood shed for a good ol' country a$$ whoopin'! 19-3 was the final and found out it was the worst beating in Dodger Stadium history. Highlights were a grand slam and 7 RBI's for Hunter Pence and a 5-5, 6 RBI effort from Brandon Belt. These 2 have been on fire for the past month and talks are under way to bring Pence back next year.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I find it so amusing when my ex-Phillies go HOT...Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino. I really miss Shane, Hunter wasn't with us long, but he became a fan favorite fast for what he could potentially bring to the team.

I hear ya about irrelevant standings...the Phillies swept the Braves recently when the Braves were hoovering over the best record in baseball. Nothing like cheap thrills! lol

Darn! So close to that mythical No No for Cashner. Minimum batters faced in a complete game and one lucky hit.  Padres are playing spoilers with a great finish to a terrible season.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm livin' & dyin' with the Indians wild card chase. Just won their 8th in a row by downing the Twins 12-6! Hottest team in baseball @ the moment. Tomorrow's another day!

A's all the way, but, I can easily pull for Cleveland bay's ball or fool's ball.  My mother used to live there for a spell and gave me Indians somethin' or other (jacket I think, loooong time ago, guess I'll hafta call and see if she remembers!).  Always liked 'em as well as the Browns (never mattered they had no helmet logo) too!

It'll be A's OK with me no matter Wah, Cleveland Rocks ON & Keep the Faith,

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Hay Sally,    I LOVE the Yankees and am actually like you, not an avid baseball fan, but the the Yankees have heart and class acts like Mariano Rivera  Derek Jeter, and  Robinson Cano.

I couldn't have been prouder of them this season if they won the Series.

They withstood the A-Rod Rodeo, practically had to put the janitor in pinstripes to keep playing thru all the injuries and never held back and held their heads high.

Good Luck to all in the post season, it will be fun to watch.

Every year I put the Yankees symbol on my horse Sassy in magic marker to wear all winter, win lose or draw.

GG the Chincoteague Pony is a Giants fan, but with her I stick to poster paint, she won't stand still so don't trust the marker yet.

"Whoever has the most FUN wins" is our 4-H club's motto, and I hope all will enjoy the World Series.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

On to the second season, well after game 163 tomorrow to decide whether the Rays or Rangers will face the Indians Wed. in the AL Wild Card Game. I hate to see The Tribe sit for 2 days after winning 10 in a row. Hope they stay HOTTTT!!!!! The Giants finished on a high note moving to 3rd place with a walk off win over San Diego by Hunter Pence who inked a 5 yr. deal to stay in SF, with a no trade clause. SF took the season series with SD 10-7 to give them 3rd and the Pads 4th place. Hey Rick, at least yer guys finished outta the cellar. That honor went to Colorado.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Not much to say about the season for the Padres. Injuries and then more injuries had them playing the AAA team most of the year and then even AA to finsh. Bud did ok with what was there.
