I've recently seen that Derek Sherinian has replaced Arlan Schierbaum as joes keyboard player/organist and i just want to know why, nothing against Derek, but Arlan was amazing. Does anyone here know why Arlan is no longer a part of joes solo band?
They are both great in their own ways.I too would be interested in how the change came about.I would like to see Derek contribute on the new solo album to see what he might bring to the table.

he may have only been around a short while but I loved what he brought to the party!
oh alright, thank you for answering my question. I have yet to see how Derek is in Joes band, all i know is i loved the dynamic joe and arlan had, the performances i saw from this year were some of the best ive seen.

I saw 3 shows in the Spring. One off the hook two anticlimactic on the John Henry solos. It did validate that Joe could actually use a more dynamic player. Rick was solid but Arlan and now Derek take it to another level. Still Derek's style is not Arlan's style. I have faith it will be just as good. Maybe in someways even better.
Check out some recent South America YouTube or elsewhere audio-videos to hear and see how Derek integrates with Carmine and Tal, and Joe.

I know I can't wait to see Derek live, and hope that doesn't change before he gets back to the Chicago area. (I saw him with Dream Theater, but never BCC.) I know it'll be good, no doubt.

It just didn't work out. Reese has settled in. Saw the show in Austin and Reese makes you forget about Arlan. Reese fits the band he is touring with now.
This goes back to, everyone has different tastes, Arlan was great, love Reese and I did not care for Derek at all. I thought his playing was overbearing and his on stage presence was a distraction to the star of the show, who is who we came to see.

HAHAHA! This is exactly how I feel about Arlan.
Love what Reese is bringing. Thought Derek did a fine job as did Rick.
Big respect to all keyboard players that Joe has had in the past but..... REECE WYNANS?!?! Nobody can compete, surely!? 
We saw Kevin McKendree play with Joe in Chicago last Spring when Reese was being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and if anything ever happens where Reese is no longer able to play with Joe, I sure hope they get Kevin to fill in. He was amazing. He usually plays with Brian Setzer. He had almost no practice with the band prior to the shows and he absolutely nailed his parts as if he had been playing these songs for years. It was incredible.
