7/10 for me add some Uriah Heep

Live 73 still the best live album .............

I had the Heep in my mind as well and was contemplating putting 'very 'eavy, very 'umble' in. I have the '73 Live album too, but for me it is ruined inexplicably by the god awful 'Rock 'n Roll medley' they chose to include. Dunno why, but I always found it demeaning for such a great hard rock band to include such lightweight material. I accept we all learn those songs early on, particularly for musicians of that era, but they had already made 3 or 4 albums by that time so there was no shortage of their own songs.

When you listen now it does sound dated they would never play it these days  . I think it was just a fun encore

They are still great live in 2013

Re: The 10 Best Metal/Hard Rock Albums of the 1970s

I'd add CCR's Cosmo's Factory to that list... and the fact that there's no Queen album there... it's a deadly sin!!!

I'm broke, motherf**ker!

I thought about Queen as well. But wasn't sure if considered hard rock?same with CCR.
Thought about Stones but can really say hard rock/ metal with them either.Queen could possibly.Their first album had some killer riffs

Yeah, you're right... I forgot about that! If the list would be "rock albums" they'd surely be there!

Apart from the obvious ones: -

Who's Next                        The Who
The Ramones                     The Ramones
Live @ Leeds                      The Who

I would class them all as Hard Rock and they are all hugely influential

I would even include 'Never Mind the Bollocks'

Re: The 10 Best Metal/Hard Rock Albums of the 1970s

Like all classifications the lines are not always clear.I hear what you sat HDF.
To me the Who kind of straddle that line.If anything Libe At Leads is a hard rock album.I would note that the studio versions if the sings ae not. They really amped en up live.I would struggle with Who's Next as being "hard"rock although it not a definate yes or no.Same with the Ramones or Sex Pistols.Would those bands cringe at being Lanier hard rock.
Rush is also a band not mentioned.mostly labeled progressive, but more a hard rock band, specially early on.
