I don't really like his voice, call me a retard. but he is a rocker and added so much to Kenny's music through the years. I'm sure he's a very nice guy, stage antics don't bother me in the least. My understanding is that Kenny can sing, but didn't have to with Noah around. I'm looking forward, yeah to some fresh stuff and hearing him sing with Stephen.

Agree to disagree on that one brother. Noah's awesome all the way around.

Ditto!!! Noah's a rocker!!!

Kenny can definitely sing. He sang Riverside on Ledbetter Heights, all of The Place You're In (with the exception of 2 songs Noah sang), and a couple of songs on How I Go. But I tend to agree with The RiverCat. To me, Kenny's vocals are a nice change of pace every now and then. I still think The Place You're In is criminally underrated.

it was a rock album. he ditched strats and started playing marshalls and les pauls. it was a good album. Just not a good blues album, and infairly compared to Noah's vocals. Lose/lose situation on style and voice.

thanks Jane, I really do like it. Stills is still pretty good, always liked his voice and very tasty solo from Kenny. It sure doesn't hurt to have Jerry Harrison on board, he worked on Ten Days Out with KWS.

Yeah, I think that song would be a good tune in the midst of the album, but is kind of a snooze if it's supposed to be a single. But I still have high hopes for this album.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Nice to hear something new from Stephen. He and Joe Walsh can do no wrong in my book and to hear new stuff by both of them within a year of each other is sweet. I can't wait to hear more, hopefully it's heavily influenced by Stephen.

Kind of an odd video with the presentation of the lyrics, but I enjoyed it.  Vintage sounding Stephen Stills, to me.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Some Soundcloud links from the new cd. Best I can tell the entire album is on Soundcloud. I preordered the cd from ITunes last week and ran across the Soundcloud links on FB a few days ago. I really like what I've heard so far, Don't Want Lies is slow but I really like it a lot. I did not post the link for it since it is in the above links.

I have tickets to see them at the Ohio River Throwdown in Cincinnati on 9/14  and again at Lexington Opera House on 9/16. Of course Beth Hart opens in Lexington and will be at the Throwdown too smile smile smile

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

We are going to be seeing them at the Iridium next Thursday, 8/29. Can't wait! I love that small place. We'll be lining up early in order to try and get seats up front by the stage. Funny how the Iridium shows aren't listed on either Beth's or the Rides websites. It's like they are pretour shows or something and I think they sold out almost immediately.

Thanks for posting that link. I really like the song, "That's a Pretty Good Love". It has such a cool beat to it.

No problem. I really like their vibe. Looking forward to the show at the Fillmore. Still a month to wait! wink

Somehow Steve has recovered his voice.  I like what I'm hearing.  KWS sounds strong and sweet.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Got my copy of this from Amazon yesterday. This is a great cd. Actually the bluesiest KWS has been in a while. Interesting song selection. Held my attention all the way thru. We have tickets to see them (with Beth Hart) in Milwaukee next month. Really looking forward to it.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

The Iridium had posted that Beth Hart is the opening act for The Rides, yet the shows are tonight and tomorrow and Beth said on twitter 5 hrs ago that she was enjoying a relaxing day in LA.  Hmmm, either these shows are really secret and she is trying to throw everyone off or we are not going to be seeing Beth tomorrow night. Too bad, we were looking forward to seeing her again.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Beth is not on the bill for the show here in Oklahoma. Maybe having here open didn't work out.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Oh no!  That's the only reason I bought my ticket to the Pittsburgh show!  Probably will enjoy the guys, but that would be a huge disappointment if Beth is absent.

Beth has it posted all over her facebook that she will be the opening act for their September tour. I guess the Iridium shows are pretour ones since it is still August, but Jim, I don't see any show listed for Oklahoma on the Rides tour page. Are they going there later in the fall? If so, maybe that's why she won't be there. Who knows.
