Re: Welcome Derek Sherinian!

Another certainty is when band members change, you are going to have varying opinions about the change. That should not be unexpected.

Band members changing is about the music.  Their are varying reasons as to why the band changes but that can change the sound of the music.

Congrats to Arlan on his marriage and good luck to Derek.

This is some good news. Congrats Derek in getting the gig. Loved Arlan's work on his B3 - will miss him.

Re: Welcome Derek Sherinian!

- just glad that I got to shake Arlan's hand at Hampton Court Beth Hart show when he gave me his setlist at the end of the show.  Really enjoyed his playing at RAH and SBE, - thought he brought a very interesting element to the band with his versatility.

As one door closes another one opens, looking forward to seeing a new dynamic with DS.

Re: Welcome Derek Sherinian!

Didn't read every post here, just skimmed.  Derek won't need luck...we all know he'll step right in...no stranger to playing with Joe, and working those "ivories".  Thankfully, from the elephant's perspective (and mine), they don't make keys out of their tusks, these days.  wink

EDIT:  To add that I'm thinking I need to hit Louisville, maybe...this year.

Was a fan of Derek's when he did his Dream Theater stint.  It's all good, for sure.  And BCC work was amazing, IMHO.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.
