Topic: An Evening at the Gorge?

Does anyone know when Joe might be in the Pacific NW again?  I just became aware of Joe Bonanassa this last May.  Man! where have I been!!?  My 'Guitar Gods' have been Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter(Early Steely Dan) and Leo Kottke (I know...  Showing my age there...).  As much as I liked those guys...  Joe takes it way beyond!  His style has it's own signature and he never seems to get stuck in familiar phrases.  While I haven't done a concert in over a decade, I've just have to see this man!  I was in Las Vegas at a Submariner's Reunion (USS Hawkbill, SSN-666) and I just learned that Joe performed there during that time.  If I'd only known!  I would truly love to see him, with Arlan Schierbaum (Amazing in Ballad of John Henry  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7xf0ZVG81E  at 4:30) and the rest of the band from Las Vegas, some summer evening in the Gorge amphitheater.

Welcome to the forum jg1! Glad you enjoyed the video I did. It is my alltime personal favorite! Hard to say when Joe will be in the Northwest again, since he was just there this spring, but you never know, he tours constantly.

Re: An Evening at the Gorge?

He will be in Oakland this fall or Reno which is as close as it gets for you at this time. I would guess it would be next fall at the earliest or the following Spring. He usually revisits markets 18 to 24 months between appearances.

I would travel if you could to one of these fall shows it will be worth the effort.

Thank You jim m for the rapid reply with appreciated advice.  I think Reno would work very well.  I'll just have to make it happen!  Meanwhile, there are some great youtube videos out there.  I'm buying up as much of his music as I can now.  Have him on at home, in my truck, and at my desk at work...  That's the way it goes with me.  Once I find something that I really like, I tend to immerse myself in it.   Really appreciate this guy.  Forum shows that he has a truly dedicated fan base...  Thanks again!

Thanks, nmagcorn, for your reply.  jim m says that he will be in Reno, so I'm going to shoot for that one.  I understand an amazing talent like Joe would be in high demand and I'm sure that we, as fans, appreciate his efforts.  Does anyone else worry that he may get burnt out?  Or does he manage to catch some solitude here and there within his busy schedule?  This may sound kinda corny, but something this special should be nurtured and protected, IMHO...

Re: An Evening at the Gorge?

Welcome to the forum. Las Vegas was sold out, so you couldn't have seen him anyway. Catch him in Reno! Once you have seen him live you better get your traveling shoes on.

Re: An Evening at the Gorge?

jg1, nice to have you here!

I advise to buy your Reno tickets NOW.  Even though the show is in December, Joe sells out very quickly.  I just checked and some tickets are still available.

You will thoroughly enjoy it!
