i don't know if everyone knows that jimi didn't od . the mafia was getting into the record business and they want to sign the biggest names at the time and they where jefff beck and jimi hendrix . they made beck a offer he could'ny refuse and beck split back home to europe and didn't come back to the usa for years because they told him if he didn't sign with them they were gonna break his hands . as for jimi he lived in new york city so he was a easy target for them and they were gonna make a example of him for not signing with them . so the od thing his just a cover up for what really happened .......i know alot more to this story but that was the short version on what happened .......jimi was the man ..joe
There are some lyrics to a Bob Dylan song, (the song excapes me at the moment) that make reference to, "You don't know how dangerous it is for me to sing like this again but they can't touch me anymore" or something along those lines. It was one of his first offerings after he seemingly disappeared from the scene for a long while. Was probably around the same time, early 70's? Maybe it was on Blood on the Tracks. Anyway...
I remember at the time thinking he must have had the fear of God put in him with the death of Jim Morrision, who really scared the establishment to death back then. I formed this conspiracy theory in my mind that our secret service was trying to kill the revolution and those promoting the "Greening of America" etc...well ok, I'm sure I got kind of hungry and a real dry mouth afterwards - but those lyrics always stuck with me.
So maybe I was half right? Maybe Dylan's was referring to the mob and what was going on with Hendrix and Beck (and him) - and not some of Nixon's henchmen...
His legacy as an influential artist still lives on there are a ton of blues/rockers out there with his influences, too many to list.
After a few interviews, Hey Joe...
