Topic: My Mistake Tab Question

Hi all,

I first hear about JB by our guitar player from my band. He said, you would love this... and I must agree!
My question:
How are the chord of the acoustic guitar in this song? I`m a rookie in guitar things. I just sing... Therefor, please help me!!!

Thanx to all the answers...

Re: My Mistake Tab Question

Tthe acoustic guitar is tuned Drop D down a half step (low to high Db, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb) and it plays Db, Ab, Cb, Gb (talking as if the guitar was in standard tuning) so basically you just need to play(if your guitar is down a half step) a D, A, C, and G... the little breakdown thingie after the opening little guitar solos is based off a Gadd9 shape (which actually sounds as a Gbadd9) and a Cadd9 shape (which sounds as a Cbadd9)...

the verses goes D (sounds as a Db) and F (sounds as Fb)... and I think the pre-chorus is a C (sounds as a Cb)...

I dont have a guitar on me right now but I'm pretty sure thats is how it goes...

Hope this helps some- if you need any clarification dont hesitate to ask...

Re: My Mistake Tab Question

Hi Scott,

thanx for your really fast reply and welcome me to the board, too... I`d tried it in standard tuning. That was my main fault!!!

I`ll try it out tomorrow...

In case, thanx for your further help...

Re: My Mistake Tab Question

Hi

I need help with the "bridge"...
Scott said it could be Gadd9 and Cadd9. But it must be more... Some kind of D i think.

Intro

2x D A C G    (Acoustic Guitar alone)
4x D A C G    (Acoustic Guitar with band)

2x D F        (verse-chords, E-Guitar plays a lick here)

Verse:
D              F
I’m in a dream I’m flying over hills,
D             F
I see it shining in the hay.
D             F
There’s something golden in my hands,

pre-chorus:
     C                   A
And then I go and let it slip away.

Chorus:
     D                A      C        G
With eyes that are broken, my feelings are spoken.
     D               A    C       G
It’s time for the waters to break.
   D                 A      C            G
I know where I should be, and I’m gonna make it there.
   D        A        C       G
I won’t let you be my mistake.

D  A  C  G

verse:
The days go by like chapters from a book,
I’m skipping pages to the end.
There’s a story that I’ll never know,

pre-corus:
The one about the man who makes amends.

chorus:
With eyes that are open, my feelings are spoken.
It’s time for the waters to break.
I know where I should be, and I’m gonna make it there.
I won’t let you be my mistake.

bridge: <------------------------------------------------------------------HELP
The moment’s uncovered, I must seize the day.
This goal that I hold high - won’t let it be lost for all time.

D  A  C  G
D  A  C(to die away)

2X chorus:
With eyes that are open, my feelings are spoken.
It’s time for the waters to break.
I know where I should be, and I’m gonna make it there.
I won’t let you be my mistake.
With eyes that are broken, my feelings are spoken.
It’s time for the waters to break.
I know where I should be, and I’m gonna make it there.
I won’t let you be my mistake.

outro:
A  D  C  G... (till the end)

(My mistake baby…)

Thanx for all replays,

Re: My Mistake Tab Question

Off the top of my head I think the bridge goes something like G (maybe Gadd9) (of course it sounds as a Gb) then an A (Ab), back to the G (Gb), D (Db), G (Gb), A (Ab), C (Cb), G (Gb), D (Db)...

That should be right- I'll double check later...

Jane H. wrote:

yes killer song!

you wrote 'with eyes that are broken' in some lines but i thought it was always 'with eyes that are open' and also  'my feelings are spoken' i always heard 'my feelings unspoken'

i'm curious what others think
thanks

I always thought it was
"with eyes that are open, my feelings are spoken"

Took me a while to understand everything in that song- one of Joe's best!

Re: My Mistake Tab Question

Hi

I think its an G6. It sounds better for me... But I play it like this:
3X2033 (low to high)
How you think???

...and to the lyrics

It sounds like "broken" in the first chorus for me...  But I dont understand him very well!
And of course, its your mother-tongue.;-)

But singing "broken" have more power than "open". My opinion...
