Re: Mammoth Lakes Bluesapalooza lineup

Headed there next week. Added attractions in addition to the above link are a free jam Thurs. nite and Kenny Wayne Shepherd for the Sunday morning hangover show. 4 days of blues and free pours from 85 of the West's best brewers on Saturday. What is not to like amidst the pines at Mammoth? A few of the SoCal crew are headed up with campfire singalong jams at night after the daily shows. I might even bring my new git. I've got 6 chords down now. hmm

Re: Mammoth Lakes Bluesapalooza lineup

that do sound like a fun time Rick, free samples you say? I'm all there except for a little problem with the travel distance. Don't get discouraged on the playing, hell anything we do at our age has to be considered a success. I'm guessing your 6 chords are A,C,D,E,G, and probably F. You'd be surprised how many songs you can play with just those chords or a slight variation thereof. I actually got my Tele out the other night and played a little bit until my fingers wore out. I imagine yours are getting broken in quite well by now. keep it up, we want to hear your version of Woke Up Dreaming. lol

Hey hi Rick,  you've been kinda scarce of late and was hoping all was ok.  I attributed it to your guit lessons sucking up all your time!  Congrats on your 6 chords...as Tres insinuates, you're already 1/2 way there!  Just have to get those pentatonics and alternate/economy picking going now...

Check your PMs...some old ones on there that are moot now.  Certainly nothing important and no worries.

Thanks.  Enjoy Mammoth!

Re: Mammoth Lakes Bluesapalooza lineup

Dang! I forget to check that forum pm function. Oh well.... \\

All's fine here, just been very busy with work and that git pickin. I try to semi retire and slow down the work and we get super busy. Hmmmmm. Well, income is good I hear. wink

I've got actually more than 6 chords down with some minors and sevenths in the mix. smile That picking practice is tough using JoeB's little red picks but I'm sticking to it and the fingers are finally up to half to 3/4 hour sessions. Now trying to mix up picking and strumming. The book says this chapter takes 2 months to master. yikes hmm Loving it nonetheless. I go out in the back yard with the critters and give it my best until the finnies wear out. Haven't got the dogs howling yet. tongue

I'll drink your share Tres. As I've learned, sips are best in the hot sun at 7K feet elevation. Pacing is mandatory! Jeeze, 85 brewers X 2 to 3 kegs per each. OMG! That is a heap of sippin'! Plus the hard cider guys... there was a pear/green apple concoction last time that was superb.
