This subject brought to mind another idea. Wouldn't it be great if Joe and crew had a contest whereby the fans pick ALL the songs for a show? The 20 songs most voted for become the show. Just a thought.

You read my mind, I was thinking that exact same thing when I started this thread smile

There's a big difference between 3 and 20...

I was thinking more of a contest where the fans give their three choices and Joe picks the one that got asked for the most. Of course it's all hypothetical. Joe could play anything, and I'd be happy, but it is fun to dream a little.

Hard one Natasha.   I think it would have to be as follows:
1) Dirt in my Pocket
2) When she Dances
3) Ball Peen Hammer

I love the idea of the  contest,  Hey Joe,  what do you think of this idea!?

Re: What 3 songs would you add to the setlist

It would be interesting to see how the voting would come out.I wonder if old time long time fans would ditch any of the mainstays to plug in a song not normally in the live sets new or old ?It may be hard to oust the a majority of the songs. So I think your back to the original thread here of picking maybe two or three replacements that might be doable?Voting for 20 may show some suprises though!

The 2009 RAH arrangement of Sloe Gin. Sorry, but I don't like the arrangement Joe has ben playing for the last year or so.

Re: What 3 songs would you add to the setlist

Reconsider Baby would be a well-loved return to the list.

Joe has so many great songs. I wish he would add new songs every tour

Spanish Boots
Lonely Town, Lonely Street
Can't Find No Mercy

Re: What 3 songs would you add to the setlist

I would love to see "Whale", often in my rotation from Dust Bowl

I think "A Place in My Heart" deserves mention.  But it's a horn-arranged tune on DTTD (not that I would mind it without them, or with, if Joe can make that happen...logistics issue, of course).  Still Joe B. loves him some Gary Moore tributes, and that would surely be one.  Plus the usual JB blistering solo.

So many options that have never been played live....

Here's a "left field" sort of option..."Revenge of the 10 Gallon Hat", from HTCT.  A severely country-flavored thing that could be fun, in concert.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: What 3 songs would you add to the setlist

Been thinking about this since I 1st read it. Hard to narrow it down so I'm going to be greedy, sorry. Pain and sorrow will always be on my wish list since I've never seen it live and it's one of the songs that got me hooked 11 years ago so I'm not counting it. When you read my list it will probably rub some the wrong way and they would never want these 2 songs to change. I realize and understand when you see Joe live so many times there are certain songs that will always be in the set. I'm not complaining just sayin' I'd like to see a couple of those changed up a bit wink Assuming the shows continue with an opening acoustic set I'm picking 3 acoustic and 3 main set! I warned you I was being greedy.

Acoustic:
Mountain Time- love the Vienna version back to the original arrangement
Sloe Gin again love the Vienna version
Richmond and not just because I live in Richmond! Love the song, it was fantastic at the Apollo and I would love to see it added to the set list

Main Set:
Lonely Town/Lonely Street-studio version just sounds like they are having a blast jamming would like to see that live smile
Meaning of the Blues just want to see it live tongue
I Know Where I Belong one of those old ones I've never seen live before wink

There you have it 6, really 7 cool but all in fun, looking forward to seeing what's on the list!!!

Re: What 3 songs would you add to the setlist

"Lonely town" would be cool.  The fact that I'm a Bill Withers fan has nothing to do with it...(well, actually, yeah it does).
