Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

Definitely has some bite to it and a pronounced, certain mid range freq that I've noticed on some of the carol Ann amp demos.

The clip has too much distortion for my taste but looking forward to hearing more of what it can do. Surely it can warm up too. I'm honestly pretty happy with my setup and with my recent OD pedal acquisition but always interested in new stuff. ...and hopefully a pre-(official)release demo from Ron!

Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

I concur with some of the others here that it sounds fairly nasaly.  On 'Clip 2' it sounds like there might be a flanger effect on?? (especially at 0:04 to 0:05) or is that just some harmonics coming through ?...

Still, has a nice chunky mid/bottom range to it which is cool.  I assume the demos were done with a humbucker equipped guitar?  Be interesting to hear some single coil clips too.

Peter informed me that it is being road tested. It is unlike any pedal out there. He will have something on his web site at some point. It is something new, new circuitry. It focuses on the harmonics so that you could play heavy distorted chords and still hear the strings instead of just one big powerless undefined blur of distortion. He also said that it has some unique circuitry to make it work with any guitar and  amp model. even solid state amps. Also no need to crank up your tube or solid state amp to make it sound great. It sounds great on a super clean amp also. It can be used as a pedal and also as a preamp. I am on his list to receive one from the first batch. Not sure when that will be but when I get it I will report back with clips and review. Cheers Ron

I corresponded with Prter yesterday via email and he will let me know when available for sale

Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

some of the tonal characteristics of the pedal may be enhanced/masked because it is a solo track.  i look forward to hearing demos of the pedal in a mix.  that really is the best way to demo ANY gear, if it is meant to be used in a band situation.  Peter should send that pedal to Lance Keltner, as he always does demos in solo mode, and also in a live band situation (or to someone who does somthing similar, that is just the easiest example for me).

Same here Dave, but even the pedal demos he does on the occasion, are in the same format.  Actually back when I used to buy a lot of pedals, every single one of gearmandude's demos misguided me as the pedals and demos were great, but in solo context only, for my applications, they eventually just did not work.  A couple of Lance's demos steered me correctly.  Anyhow, I look forward to hearing demos of it in a mix, which I am sure Ron will do.

Hi Spider
I have bank to bank transfer with Peter in the past. No problems that I have run into. They have been substantial sums. Peter is A1 for sure.
Cheers Ron

I do bank transfers all the time with off shore business sales. The vendor is assured of payment and the transfer cannot be reniged. If you trust the vendor, do it.

Re: Van Weelden Royal Overdrive Pedal.

Guess I'm just old fashioned. I pay my bills (on time) by check, never online banking. Honestly I've never done a bank to bank transfer outside of direct deposit. Nothing against anyone, but I just rather not do bank to bank, there's no security for the buyer as I see it. If someone here wants to purchase one extra, I'd be happy to buy it from them and absorb any fees.

Stay Safe. Stay Cool!

I have no idea as to why it is more expensive within the E.U. I figured there were additional fees to import or ship items from country to country that aren't applicable when shipping to the United States. I could be totally wrong, but that was my guess when I first read the info.

I'm sure the pedal will be awesome in every sense but still way more than I will spend for one. I was hoping for the 300-400 us dollar range. And even that would be a rare exception for me.

No VAT in the US. Offshore sales exempt from the %20 on average sales tax in the EEC.
