Re: My Next Concert (s)

The Eagles kick off their tour tonight at the KFC Yum Center in Louisville. I saw them at Yum Center in 2010, they were the 1st live show ever at the YUM Center when it opened in October 2010. Even in a arena this size it was one of the best concerts I've been to, so really looking forward to seeing them again smile

today: Steve Winwood at Große Freiheit 36 / Hamburg

Re: My Next Concert (s)

Late again . . .
my last concert: THE DOUBLE VISION - yesterday at the Downtown Bluesclub in Hamburg.
We discovered this Band at the Fehmarn Festival 2010 and we thought: This could be Rory's son . . .

Going to see a local favorite celebrate 35 years of killing it.

Vanessa Davis Band, July 20th, at Fitzgerald's.  Hope people won't mind my posting the link to her site.  Includes links to some of their classics in the free music section.

For those that may be curious, some decent videos, as well.  (Several of which are from Amsterdam shows, where Vanessa loves to perform.  Who am I kidding, she just loves to perform.)

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Went to Perth to see Bettye Lavette and The James Hunter Six last night. Then got back to Aberdeen in time to catch the last half hour of The Lewis Hamilton Band.

Back to Perth tomorrow for Gospel Brunch with the McCrary Sisters and special guests, Larkin Poe in the afternoon then Patty Griffin in the evening.

I'm doing Gathering of the Vibes in CT next weekend.  Mule, Grace, TTB and a host of others.  I splurged on VIP tickets (too old to sit in a field lol) which includes a meet and greet with Grace

A few of us are envious Alan. Especially the m & g with Grace. Quite right to go with the VIP option. Great name for the day as well.

Re: My Next Concert (s)

Just saw The Aristocrats last night here in Orlando (Sanford, actually) in a little bar - less than 100 people.  It was just unbelievable.  I've never seen anything like it, musically.  I like their first album, and other projects, and I've seen their live clips on Youtube, but being there and seeing it live was something else.  Not to mention being 10 feet away.  Such a great power trio because each of the three (Guthrie Govan, Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller) are all so great and each one is a pillar and worth paying attention to at any time.  It's not "Guthrie Govan with his backing band" at all.  The music is fun, interesting, humorous, edgy - just everything rolled into one.

Can't say enough about this band.  I loved them before, but seeing them live was a whole new level.

It is.  My partner Christine can't make it so going alone but may meet some I know are going from the Mule board.  I'm thinking of bringing my Grace Flying V for her to sign as long as I can find some place to store it while we go stage side to see her play.  She of course can borrow mine....

Saw Bryan Lee on Friday.  He's a fun and charismatic guy.  It's been about 6 years since I first saw Bryan.  He's slowed down quite a bit now that he is 70 and took a terrible fall a few years ago that has caused him back surgery and some lingering physical problems.  The spirit is still strong though!  He's taken everything life has thrown at him and still says he's the most blessed man alive.

Bryan's got a young gun guitarist (Rick Johnson) with him that we really enjoyed.  The bass player was even younger.  It's cool seeing these young guys learning, touring and being mentored by a genuine product of the blues.  Go see Bryan if you can.  He's a cool dude and plays Flying V's a-la Albert King.
