Topic: Todd Rundgren

I cant say Ive ever been a Todd Rundgren fan. Yeah, I knew some Nazz and some Utopia, and the '72 hits, but never been a follower. To say the least I was shocked out of my seat tonight. Somehow he managed to twist the glam days through a pretzel machine and out came an  hour and a half of techno/rap/rhythm that was just great. It didn't hurt to have Prarie Prince drumming, and I did miss Kasim Sulton (where did you go dude?) but the synth drive rock was loads of fun.

Here him covering one of my favorite Tubes songs last month..it gives a clear idea of him updating his 70s sound to this century...and since he can is "supposed to live in the future"...maybe next century too.

It aint the blues!

Re: Todd Rundgren

I've always liked Todd and most of his music. I got to see him in Pensacola back in the late 90s, but it was late, kids were quickly falling asleep and he was pissed about the monitor setup. We left after 3 songs. My brother gave me a really weird CD a few years back, could have been a bootleg. I can't find it anywhere on his discography list, and can't remember the name. It was live and I think in England. It is fairly outrageous and some of it really bad. But my brother also got me to listen to Utopia way back when and I liked it. I regret not going with him when he came to Birmingham on that tour.
Glad you had a good time, hell I'd like to see him.

Re: Todd Rundgren

Our young Bonaustralian Stefan will be meeting and hopefully seeing him this week. Trip report Stefan!

Re: Todd Rundgren

Todd and I grew up in the same town near Philly and went to the same high school.  He's older than me and I've never met him.

Recently though I was digging through his music as he is supporting StringsforaCURE by donating his used guitar strings!! So, thumbs up to Todd and thanks to Todd for the support.

I'm sure there are more of Todd's strings in inventory if anyone is interested in a custom piece of jewelry. Thanks. wink
