I saw a picture of some guy's front door opened and the snow goes to about 5 or 6 ft, I guess from drifting.  You can see the imprint of the door and it gives me the creeps.  In my old age I've gotten claustrophobic.

I saw that too, it reminded me of the house where I grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. The side door would look just like that on occasion. Living a 1/2 mi. off of Lake Erie was brutal at times. Hope everybody survived and if you have your power on tune in the AT&T golf tournament the scenes from Pebble Beach oughta warm you up a bit.

Re: New Mother Nature

Had a 3 foot drift in front of my front door, took a bit to get out!  It was just over 5 feet at the peak in front of my garage door.  Luckily it was very light pack and my snow blower went through it easily.

Sunny and -2 right now.  Plus 4 and rain for Tuesday.  What a mess that will be.

Re: New Mother Nature

Huge flocks of starlings were circling our house and landing in our trees all day. Caught some of it on film. Pretty wild to see, reminiscent of a Hitchcock movie.

Tornado's in north Texas last night. 6 confirmed fatalities. 14 still missing.

Re: New Mother Nature

that was apparently multiple tornadoes, saw some video on the news this morning and was thinking about how close you might have been. Glad you and yours were spared.

A local TV weatherman was reporting just 2 days ago how calm "tornado alley" had been this spring and the storm chasers had nothing to do. Always be careful what you wish you.

Re: New Mother Nature

because it's been a very chilly spring, and little to no warm gulf air streaming northward. It just went down to 43 degrees here the other night. We have had next to nothing, hardly even a severe thunderstorm. very unusual.

Re: New Mother Nature

I was just watching a segment on TV about how this year the Atlantic is warm, especially near the US east coast and the Pacific surface waters are cooler than normal. They are forecasting a very active Atlantic hurricane season so here's a heads up.

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: New Mother Nature

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head! It's rained here everyday this week sad Kentucky is getting slammed by a nasty weather pattern pulling tons of moisture up from the Gulf. As of 6:00pm last night in a 48 hour period we had gotten 2.85 inches of rain. Not sure what the totals are so far today but it was raining when I went to bed last night and when I woke this morning. Looking at the radar it will be raining here again within the next hour. The forecast calls for another 2-3 inches before it ends sometime Sunday. I can't remember getting this many soaking rains over & over for consecutive days, just relieved we live on high ground smile

Re: New Mother Nature

You think that's strange, we have had cloudless skies and temperatures from mid 70's to 80's for the last three days and forecast for the rest of the week. This is England you know. Could get used to this global warming if it wasn't so cold in the winter. lol

Re: New Mother Nature

same here Liz, you guys are getting the leftovers. You should have seen the rain totals in the Florida panhandle, one was in excess of 21 inches over a 3 day period. We are getting tired of it as well, more on the way this afternoon. as for the global warming thing PSmith, Murray and Djoko were not thrilled with the temp on the court yesterday, thought Djoko was going to pass out a couple of times. They said that was the hottest men's Wimbledon finals since 1977.

Re: New Mother Nature

The torrential down pours finally quit and now it just rains every time I have a day off! Off work the entire 1st week of July rained every day, was off last Wednesday started raining just as I headed for the pool. Got off work Saturday sunny in town raining by the time I got home! I'm giving up!

Fortunately we did not have long term flooding only dealing with flash floods for the most part. The rivers & lakes are up Ky River flows north to the Ohio, it was really high while we were in Louisville for the Eagles concert on the 6th but no flood warnings there. Here's a crazy story from Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati, 40 pound carp caught in this guy's fence! Gotta' see it to believe it!
