So, Picture This; the Tide Is High and I’m feelin' Union City Blue, Hangin’ On The Telephone; Maria, my Sunday Girl, said Call Me on Detroit 442. Shayla , the X-Offender answered and told me of this tour - I thought Atomic! I must be Dreaming, but then I always had a Heart of Glass.......

So, what did you all do for Independence Day?

Blondie at Newcastle Academy - fantastic 2hr set from Debbie, Chris, Clem & gang. Yeah, One Way Or Another, we were Hangin’ On The Telephone, getting Union City Blues, Heart of Glass, Atomic, Maria, Dreaming, Call Me. Frankie’s Relax got a work over as part of a 5 song encore, but it wasn’t just a “wheel out the hits” package gig - there was enough new songs that there’s a new album on the way (Ghosts Of Download) and with songs like Rose By Any Other Name, Sugar On The Side, Take Me In The Night, Drag You Round sounds like they're still on form.

For someone who's just celebrated her 68th birthday, Debbie still commands the stage - the face may be a bit botox-ed and pancaked, but the voice is still there, and dare I say it - she's dancing better than she ever did. Chris Stein swapping some hot guitar with Tommy Kessler and Clem Burke is still a drummer's drummer - powering through a 2hr set.

A nod too, to the openers, Lexy & The Kills; good sounding, young band - finished with a rousing bit of Jefferson
