Topic: Beth and Joe - Carre Theatre - 6/30/13

WOW! WOW! WOW! Yesterday must have been like a rehearsal for today because tonight was just beyond amazing! As Michael was saying to me, I should just delete all my videos from yesterday because they are just rubbish compared with what happened tonight smile So much energy from both Beth and Joe. Crowd was really into it. Beth got everyone up and dancing for "Well Well" and when the song ended Joe said to her, "Good Job!" It was like the entire show went to 11. Great spot for recording as well, 2nd row. Could see great and during the encore songs went up to the front and Michael let me stand next to him at the stage. Thank you thank you!! Of course the internet tonight is slow, don't know what was going on yesterday to make it so fast. We'll see what I can upload. Might have to wait for most of them for when we get home on Tuesday. So wonderful to meet everyone from this side of the world. George, Michael, Maggie, LynB, Trisha, Maryanne, Anneleis (sorry if it's spelled wrong), Bibi, Eva, Eva's mother, the Scot contingency, Kenny, Michelle, Wenche, so many wonderful people. It is what makes these shows that Joe has just so special is all the new people we meet and become friends with. The best thing is seeing an amazing show and then getting to excitedly discuss it afterwards with a fantastic group of new friends. What a wonderful time we have had, just absolutely stellar!!

Actually, she's in luck, my son just spent the last 1 1/2 hrs uploading his video of that song.

What Natasha said. Agree with every word, nothing to add right now...except that seasoned Bonamaniacs experienced a collective jaw drop after Joe's solo in Can't let go.

I did "Nutbush City Limits" first because I thought it was a great example of the energy of the show. Filming job was kind of shaky because we were all dancing around. Love the beginning when Michael is exclaiming to Joe that he doesn't need his music, and Joe runs back to the front saying "I don't need it!" and then Beth starts dancing while Joe is playing right in front of us. It was just fantastic!

Amazing rendition of "I'd Rather Go Blind" Final encore song of night and tour. Incredibly emotional!

Thanks to all the videographers for the output. I look forward with glee to the vids. Caveman had a f/b pic of the band with gold records before the show and called them "the best band in the world". After posting he was disappointed in Saturday's performance due to lack of energy, I think the Sunday show will be the one that makes the cut for the dvd.

Re: Beth and Joe - Carre Theatre - 6/30/13

Wow, what a weekend!!!
Loved both shows!!! On Saturday I had the idea they were more concentrated, all sounded great and WOW Beth is stunning!!! I agree on Joe being too much hidden behind the music stand and not soloing more in the front of the stage. Sunday the stand was more to the side, which was way better.
Sunday was more relaxed, we were invited to stand up and sing along and dance. It turned out to be a fun party! George filmed it. What I also found very nice to see is they were joking more and talking.. Beth even hugged Joe and kissed him spontanious after one of those incredible solo's.
So musically seen I think both shows were great, but the vibe was better on Sunday.
I really liked the horn section both nights, they rocked and had fun. I also think Arlan is such a great musician, but he was more in the front with Joe's shows compared to now. To me it would have been nice if he'd had a bigger role, but I understand why they decided other during this tour...
I had the idea it mostly was Beth's party and I honestly have to say she deserved it!!! She's such an amazing performer and singer! Her voice really does well all those beautiful songs! Now the waiting  for the DVD starts...
Just before the second show they received their golden record for "Don't Explain". Congratulations!!!!

And... o... Phil sorry for screaming through your recordings, hahahahha!!!

Re: Beth and Joe - Carre Theatre - 6/30/13

Last night was really wonderful. Beth is such an awesome singer, she means it and it shows! It's great to see Joe in a supporting role, he really brings it and Beth reacts to it. My hi-lights were Strange Fruit, More than you'll ever know and Go Blind.
Carre always sounds good and sitting dead center on the balcony, it was a little bit bass heavy but otherwise it sounded very natural. The lighting was better than the dustbowl tour but still not as good as it can be. Especially with the slow and emotional songs a great light engineer can turn the place into an old smokey jazz club and open it up to a big party on the fast songs. I think the idea of doing that was there but it just didn't quite work out.
It still was a totally awesome show and I hope Beth and Joe will do this again sometime in the future!
Can't wait for the DVD smile

Wow, just so much energy in this song, plus a drum solo by Anton in the middle that you could see Joe was enjoying!

It was great meeting you guys and thanks for the videos!  wink
Please DO NOT delete any of your night one videos. ha ha. i personally LOVED the first night. (How can Caveman say it was low energy when it felt like an earthquake during Nutbush... the floor of the venue was literally swaying from all the stomping the audience was doing.) wink    Yes I do think they took it up a notch the second night but I thought both nights were awesome. I also liked how chatty Beth was on the first night. She always cracks me up. What a fantastic experience. I'm so jetlagged, and it's too hot here in Cali.  wink

Re: Beth and Joe - Carre Theatre - 6/30/13

Back home to warm, incredibly humid weather with a jungle of a garden full of 10lb summer squash and baskets of berries.

George, Michael, Angela and Eva it was so nice to have one last evening with all of you even if it was a little chilly. But that is what Europe is all about, being outside drinking and eating with friends. What a wonderful life.

I felt the tram came too suddenly and didn't get a chance to say proper thank yous and goodbyes, but maybe that was okay because I probably would have gotten teary eyed if it had lasted longer.
George, thank you so much for everything, the wonderful seats at the shows, all the plannings of meals and gatherings, dvds and everything else you did. So happy we got to meet you and spend time with you. So glad we were able to do this trip. A wonderful experience for the kids, and believe it or not, they have been talking about the shows and Ryley was saying how he thought these were the best he has seen because of the energy smile

Michael, it was just the most wonderfully, fantastic time. A show is that much more special because of who you are sharing the experience with. Not just "1 of the top 5", but perhaps for me, nearly one of the top 3 smile

And I know we will see you all again "Someday After Awhile", either across that vast ocean again or perhaps over here. Which ever comes first.

Natasha

Don't worry, Michelle, I would never delete any, in fact I have quite a bit more to add.  Beth was so wonderfully unrestrained on Saturday, and Joe seemed to let it loose a lot more on Sunday. The shows seemed so different from each other even though they were the same batch of songs.

Here is Sinner's Prayer from Sunday. Love when Joe uses a slide, and Beth is just belting out those lyrics.
