Topic: Online Pharmacies in Canada

The purpose of this topic is NOT to discuss what is wrong with health insurance in the USA.

I am trying to gather information about a US citizen purchasing prescription medicine online. Some of the online sources are in Canada. Many American drug companies (many based in North Jersey) send refrigerated tractor trailers full of medicine to Canada. The online prices are way cheaper in Canada, even if you are an insured American with a prescription plan.

As I said, just trying to gather some info. I'm not sure if its even legal for an American to buy from an online Canadian source.

One of my children recently had a autoimmune medical diagnosis which means he may be on lifetime medicine (2 medicines). With insurance, before we've met our family deductible, the cost is a $1000 month. When we've met our family deductible, its about $500 monthly. Neither drug has a generic and there are no plans for the more expensive one to ever get a generic.

So, I checked out the pricing and called the drug company to ask some questions, since they are the only company that makes it. This company has 3 manufacturing facilities in the USA and one in Canada. A 90 day supply from the online pharmacy in Canada for the one medication is $226 vs. $1815, when we have not met our family deductible.

Has anyone ever purchased medicine online via Canada? There are some very good reviews and some very bad reviews. Being that there is no generic and only one company makes the medicine, for my situation, it seems a little safer, unless its counterfeit?? The manufacturer gave me a bar code number that should be on the medication.

Thanks.
