Topic: Hampton Court Palace - 24/06/13

Was a fantastic show tonight, a hell of a lot of traveling time but well worth it. What a great show, a great venue, differant certainly. A grand show in a grand setting. It was my first time seeing Beth, what a singer live, such presence. Joe was on top form as always, great to hear him play a set entirely of tracks I hadn't heard him play on. Of course the two of them where backed by a backing band of a further 7 very talented musicians. I'd Rather Go Blind was the highlight for me without contest, what a treat, followed by Sinner's Prayer & Rhymes. Nutbush City Limits was a great way to end the show. Great to see Joe strutt his stuff during Someday After A While, most enjoyable.

Here is the setlist:

Them There Eyes
Sinner's Prayer
Can't Let Go
For My Friends
Close to My Fire
Rhymes
Something's Got a Hold on Me
Your Heart Is as Black as Night
Chocolate Jesus
Baddest Blues
Someday After A While
Well, Well
If I Tell You I Love You
Seesaw
Strange Fruit
Miss Lady
---------
I'd Rather Go Blind
Nutbush City Limits

Too bad they're not playing I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know! My favorite song from the new album!

I'm broke, motherf**ker!

That would of been good, out of the handful of tracks from the 2 albums that weren't performed, i would of loved to hear I'll Take Care Of You. Oh well 16 out of the 21 tracks were performed, there was always gonna be something good missing.

Re: Hampton Court Palace - 24/06/13

Yes it was indeed an awesome evening. I'd Rather Go Blind was sensational. Beth's Baddest Blues was also a highlight for me. I've seen both Beth and Joe several times before, but last night was something I'd been waiting for ever since I first heard Don't Explain and I wasn't disappointed. They work so well together. Magic.

Re: Hampton Court Palace - 24/06/13

I would have missed "I'll Take Care Of You" too. I would have been thrilled to see the show though, that is for sure. I keep hoping for a US tour at some point to support the live record release.

Re: Hampton Court Palace - 24/06/13

Stunning new addition to the setlist from Bergen at Hampton Court and wow in the encores too
just to finish you off emotionally, cos thats what we want from these 2 onstage to be torn apart

So 1 of The Big 3 Ballads is let loose, just waiting for
I'll Take Care Of You
I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know
to complete the Heartbreaking Threesome

mind you  i wouldnt mind seeing Ain't No Way slip into the set too

nice setlist indeed and the sound sounded awesome even from camera/vids

Joe and Beth together i believe is Joe's best work he's ever done outside of his solo work and even better than some of that , thats how good this is, Joe must be loving listening to Beth Kill it live
cos she has a crushing vocal range with emotion, she's the new Aretha Etta Billie all rolled intro one
with her own unique style and stage presence
She is Amazing

Marcus has something to do with the film crew if not the director CGFilm I believe and Clay Allen is Tour Manager. Lee Thornburg is the only Horny dude I know from that list. Best known for Tower of Power.

Unless there are two Clay Allen's on this tour the Clay Allen I know is a fellow Oklahoman and Tour Manger extraordinaire AKA "The Big Sexy" Now that may make him an honorary Horny dude but it does not make him a musician. wink

Re: Hampton Court Palace - 24/06/13

...ok! ...I bow to your wiser knowledge Jim... Beth said the names at the gig and 'Clay' kinda rang a bell but was obviously emotionally overcome... anyone got horn'y detail?
