on to SD after splitting the series with LA, 9:00 is a really late start for me but will try to watch some of it. I know the family in SF was happy to see Dan Uggla go deep vs the Doyers, he had a pretty good series. We come to visit at SF this weekend, and it's the featured Sunday night game.

You should have an easy time of it. Padres are down to promoting AA talent there have been so many injuries and the pitching staff has been very erratic. Gryozo ( sp? ) down with a groin pull last night and may be out for a while. He was the lone bright star they had brought up.

Jedd Gyorko, pronounced, Jerko. The Giants haven't been the same since Angel Pagan pulled his "hammy" on his walk-off inside the park homer. He's been moved to the DL it's so bad, but SF brought up Juan Perez who shined yesterday against the Snakes.

and that is why they go ahead and play the games. lol I've been watching SD play a lot better the last month or so, at least it seems that way. good win for the Pods, we'll try again tonight.

Our Braves are having a tough time on this west coast road trip......

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

we don't play all that well on the road, but I'll take a split with the Doyers. Padres have won a lot of close games lately, have to give credit to their manager. Tim Hudson didn't get much run support last night, again. On to SF on Friday, 2 out of 3 would be nice and then I think we come back home.

check that, Giants are coming to Atlanta. damn it's good to get off the left coast and have some decent game times.

That is the first time the Padres have beat Hudson. Cashner is coming along as a converted reliever. Another on the DL as Maybin is out with a torn PCL. Get out the brooms! wink

ATL couldn't catch the Gi's at a better time. Last night hot hitting Marco Scutaro took a pitch on his left pinky a la the same spot that put 5 pins in Ryan Vogelsongs hand. The X-rays came back negative, but there may be tendon damage. Besides those 2, the Panda went on the 15 day DL and Angel Pagan needs more time on the DL to nurse his "hammy" injury. Timmy looked pathetic last night in Pitt and that may have sealed the deal to move him to the bullpen. Bochy must be wondering what else can possibly go wrong every time his team takes the field. Good luck against the MASH unit!

when it rains it pours huh Dawg, sorry to hear of all the injuries. Dodgers and Nats have had similar problems earlier in the year, maybe the Pads to a certain extent as well. knock on veneered particleboard, we are fairly healthy right now.

after what happened last night with these two, they have got to be thrilled to have MMA baseball come there next year. I thought baseball was our true American pasttime, it ain't no cricket.

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

Not going to say too much, cause I don't want to mess with it, but this is just the best time in Oakland!

These guys are so much fun to watch and the fans just make me want to be there so much instead of just watching it from TV.  It's great though from TV to have wonderful broadcasters as Ken Korach and Ray Fosse(former catcher for the A's).  Ray Fosse just seems like an old friend cause I have watched him for so long. So many great memories with him. Ray gives such great insight and with his easy going manner makes the games so enjoyable to watch.  Love his style.

It feels good after making the Playoffs last year to see this team get off to a great start.  It's a long season and anything can happen.  But for right now, happy for every game they win, cause every game counts with Texas right there.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

indeed, great series for the Pads, no excuses here. That may be only the 2nd time we've been swept this year. Seems like Pitt got us early in the schedule.

What an afternoon game.  18 innings and a tough, tough game.  Real Claw biter after the ninth.  Fantastic finish, great hit off of Mariano to bring in the winning run.  2 out of 3 was great, but the Sweep was just as sweet as Pie and Gatorade big_smile

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Going to my first A's game this year tomorrow. Weird start time, 4:15 pm, due to the Beer Fest commencing @ 2:00 pm. Should be fun and have good seats behind home plate, a buddy has a select your own ticket package with a game for each visiting team. The Mariners are in town and I have a feeling they're gonna give the Smokin' A's more trouble than some of the tougher opponents, hope not, but we'll see tomorrow.

Yeah, Seattle won tonight sad  Broke the 10 game winning streak at home.  So close.  But then there is the Beer Fest.  I say get all the Mariners drunk before the game, so they can't see the ball straight.
But since that won't happen.  Here's RiverCat^-^ addition Rocket.

I know you are suppose to wait for August, but a win is a win. And they count just as much in June as in August.  Rack up as many up as you can, I say.  The quicker in the season, the better.  Cause it just gives you just that bit of a cushion if something happens.  I know winning in August gives you momentum.  But in the Playoffs, you still start 0-0.  But first thing is to make the Playoffs.
I just have Green and Gold Fever!  Kind of want it to happen now since they will be leaving the Coliseum.  Just so many memories there smile
