They should've included Judas Priest, you cannot leave them out when you talk about Metal!! Most of the others on the list I have not listened to. What's your opinion? I'm not crazy about the death metal groups on the list.

Re: Top 25 metal debut albums

Three I would have to bump on to that list would be OVERKILL with Feel The Fire and Mercyful Fate with Melissa and Helloween with Wall Of Jericho.

"what's the point of race cars, rocket ships and rock and roll?"

But Priest's first album was shite!

I'd have the début's from Queen and Rush on there too. May not  be thought of as Metal now, but they were!!!

Chuck has a good onw with Walls of Jericho too

Re: Top 25 metal debut albums

Saxon's self titled debut?
The Darkness: "Permission to land"?

not sure ZZ Top are metal, but their excellent "ZZ Top's First Album" has to take a prize for its title alone, and the music aint half bad either!

My YouTube channel with plenty of my Joe's videos dating from 2009 inc his first Hammersmith Odeon ones:

Re: Top 25 metal debut albums

Everyone defines metal differently I guess.  I think early BOC falls squarely into "metaldom", their crowds were every bit as metal as Sabbath, and they out metaled Sabbath on the Black And Blue tour.  So if you accept them as metal, their first album is one of the best. They might be a little too melodic and a little less screaming than most of the list, so I dubbed them "intelli-metal".

Totally agree - tracks like Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll are very Sabbath-esque.
