Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

The line was fine. People started showing up around 4:30. We stood in the small covered entrance at first to stay out of the rain, then they took pity on us and let us stand in the stairwell leading down to the club. People who work there are really nice. Joe, Renato, Ron, Mike and Roy passed by us a couple of times. I guess it is the main entrance. Looks like nice weather today.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Was just remembering before I go back to rest more lol...

Someone ordered an extra piece of cake with Natasha & Phil's dessert order they didn't know where it came from. Then after the last show, Joe comes over to our table, looked at Natasha and said to them "how's the cake?" He must have got it for their anniversary.  So sweet!  He really loves them :-) <3

So Natasha & Phil got to see Joe and eat their cake too???? Sorry...bad joke....:p
Wish we could have been there, but BonaVegas was our only trip for the year.
I could use some more funky, rhythm & blues grooves. Keep the vids coming Natasha!
Cheers,

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

I don't want to make a Bonamassumption about the cake, we actually ended up with an extra cheesecake. Not sure where it came from. We did tell Tal it was our anniversary, but as I said I don't want to bonamassume. Could have been the waitstaff just got confused. Was weird how Joe commented on the cake after they did their bow, but maybe he was just hungry and noticed it.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Rick, I was thinking of you the whole time we were waiting in line. Could feel your presence there. And I have to say that as cool as the Iridium is, there is nothing quite like the Baked Potato. That place really is magical.
Thought the guys last night all looked rather spiffy for their dvd performance, casual, but not too casual. Joe didn't wear a hat or shades. Nice to be able to see his face. It was so nice to actually see Ron while he was playing and Mike. The lighting there was really good. Wonder if it was like that because of the filming going on.

The lighting at Iridium is always good Natasha. I watch the live feeds when they put them up. Nothing can match that funky dive bar in Studio City for ambiance. Iridium is N.Y. classy.

So true! Here is a picture of the setlist and a few more other photos added in. They changed a few songs around from what was written. No Dope On A Rope in the first show, but was in the second and no New York Song in the second, but was in the first.

I was almost done uploading Mr. Clean when Phil pulled the plug on the external hard drive to use it on the other laptop. Aghh!! He was quite upset with himself. Our brains aren't working well, didn't sleep much last night. Too keyed up and funky music kept swirling around in our brains smile

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Thanks Spider! It has been the best anniversary ever! Once again showed up quite early to line up. Nice day to hang out and people watch on Broadway. Phil and I had a nice long conversation with Mike Hickey who hung outside with us for a while. He's a really cool guy. We were fortunate to find another couple to buy our extra tickets for Sunday's early show. Met and sat with nice new people who we sold our tickets to for tonight's early show. It was nice to meet Manoj, his friend, and RoadcaseBoy.The British couple we met on the train had an incredible time at tonight's second show. The late show was just amazing! Best one yet in our opinion. Tal was right, they just keep getting better and better. So happy to hear that he and Joe have been watching the videos I have put up. Tal says they have been helping him make improvements for the next night's show. Glad I could help. Wish the internet was faster, so they could upload more quickly.

My email isn't cooperating, Ron so I'll tell you here. It's $55.

Here is the first song from the late show Saturday. The guys started the set off with my favorite head bopping tune Dope On A Rope

Followed by the fun Octopus-E

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

A few photos from the outside and inside. The marquee above the door had Joe's name going past when the photo was taken. Also set list from Saturday shows was all typed up this time. Only change in the setlists was they did NY song as encore for both sets

Natasha and Phil - it was great meeting the two of you, we had a great time and got home in one piece  lol

All I can say is - funkadeligroovalicious!!! What a giant piece of Rock Candy!!! It is so much fun to be part of an event that is truly magical, even more to watch it in a small, up close setting. Tal, Joe, Ron, Renato, Mike, and Dan have taken this group to another level. They play so well off each other, and with no egos in the room one can surmise that in addition to performing at such a high level, they're truly having fun playing as well. It was fun talking to Ron, Mike and Tal after the set  - albeit so briefly. Glad that Tina 'behaved' .... tongue She's still in groove heaven having gotten her Tee signed by Joe again. She keeps swearing she'll never ever wash it!!!

Great vids and creativity, Natasha...hats off....you are now the officially anointed "East Coast Bootleg Czar" (or Czarina...)
Safe travels to the family next week.

My head is still spinning from the incredible set we heard last night. Wish we could do more...but reality beckons...

:pray Keep it up, guys, you truly deserve multiple standing ovations. :pray

Glad you like the videos and it's true, Tal, Joe, Ron and everyone in the band deserve standing ovations. What an oustanding group of musicians.

Here is another example of the new song One Phone Call from the late show Saturday. Wow, were they all just wailing on this one, even longer than the night before

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbkaT-h8 … ata_player

And Work from that same late show. Everyone takes a turn at a solo. Love watching Mike on his bass solo, both his fingers and his expressions
