Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

We're getting excited too :-D

We'll be going to the Friday show and will try to get into the city by 4:00.

I'm sure the Friday and Saturday shows will def sell out.  I have been doing a lot of promoting for this event on Facebook and Twitter for the past fewe weeks and Brian and I passed out a lot of RCFP at Iridium flyers at the Beacon show last month. We handed out many of them as people were leaving from the Beacon concert at end of the show by the exit door. Always a good area to promote after an awesome concert to tempt them to want more lol ; )

The Iridium posted on FB that tickets are going fast and said some other nice things about the RCFP band.  See screen shot of that here: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb58 … aae3d9.jpg

Gonna be another BonaBlast in NYC!

Joe makes me feel his music & soul with his performances. He will be a legend!

Since Joe performed it once again on "Les Paul & Friends: Tribute To A Legend", maybe the guys will let him pull "The Good Luck You're Having" out of the hat for a one night (one show?) stand.  Be sort of fitting if a bit lacking in the funk (tweak it!)...

Since at the Baked Potato Joe only knew how to sing two songs, "Gimme One Reason" and "Crossroads" wink, it'll be interesting to see what songs he might "know" for these shows. Oh, the possibilities!

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

I don't think you have to worry about much singing getting in the way of those amazing instrumental tracks wink. It was just once per night, not per set back in January. And who knows what the plan is for these shows. Not knowing is one of the things that makes it so exciting!

I still haven't given up hope. ;>)

He's also sang "Wee Wee Hours" once and of course, "The Thrill Is Gone" (that would be great if a few horn players were in the city and available wink) a couple of times...

Sicks [sic] shows, 3 consecutive big city nights,.........somebody is bound to sing something???!!!  "Oye Como Va?" hmm

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

We were just able to sell two tickets to Saturday's 10 pm show to a British couple we met on the train coming up here! They noticed my Joe shirt and asked if we liked the Blues. Of course, we answered yes and then we started up a 3 hr conversation discussing Joe, who they had heard on BBC, and how they had been just visiting Memphis checking out different places associated with the Blues. We told them about the Rock Candy shows and showed them some youtube footage and the next thing you know, they were agreeing to buy tickets from us for Saturday's show. We had to find an ATM in Penn Station. Shady transactions involving cash and envelopes of tickets wink So now we have some new friends we'll be seeing on Saturday night. Now just 5 more sets of extra tickets left.

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

I wish I could hop on a plane, and just be there.

Record, and share.  (I know, that's an addiction)  Sit back, in your seat, as J Dawg has said, and soak it in and eat it up.  We all do, when you record, Natasha, but you don't have to. Even though you are hooked on it.

I went to the last show in Chicago, and dabbled, but mostly just sat in awe...

Some had sound issues, some sat too close, some had speakers in their way.

May 1st in Chicago....bonamassumptuous, if I got the reference, correctly.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.
