Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Excitement is building!! Tomorrow we hop the train to NYC. Of course rain is expected for friday and saturday which will make waiting outside somewhat damp, but who cares, that's what umbrellas are for. As can1208 stated elsewhere, how are these shows not sold out?! The place only holds 140 people! I guess it'll just be a more intimate experience, which is fine with us wink

Blank cds-check
Computer for uploading-check
Big grins on our faces- oh yes!

Manoj

P.S. We'll be there at Penn around 4:00 PM Saturday and make a beeline straight up to the Mama Mia theater (immediately next to the Iridium)...Bear in mind, if you're taking the train up from Bal'more there is track work Fri-Sat-Sun, and trains are running 10-30 mins off schedule. See alert on Amtrak.

What time are you arriving on Saturday? It would be cool to group the forum diehards together

$50 is way cheap by NYC standards, so unless advertising has been nil (it hasn't), being advanced in experience (i.e. age roll), I always recall the month of June in the northeast is when everybody is acting on Plans, the first month it's a pretty safe bet that even weather ("come rain or shine") won't usually interfere with pre-existing plans.  It's alsomamtime to stretch a day out into multiple "doings," so I have a feeling they'll be well attended Friday and Saturday.

...I guess if you act now and tomorrow you save 20%?! Off ticket price=$40.00 yikes A steal!!!

Yeah, i think the Friday and Saturday show will probably be better attended than the Sunday. I think we are the only crazies going all three nights. That's fine with me if we have them all to ourselves on Sunday, but Joe and Tal will probably get sick of seeing us wink

I saw that discount after I had purchased tickets for both shows on Saturday. The weather is supposed to get better after morning rain Saturday. I can be over to the Iridium by 3 or so Saturday. Seeing Dickie Betts at City Winery Sunday night.

Thanks for the update about Amtrak. Did not know that, but probably won't affect us too much. Our train is suppose to arrive around 12:40 so a half hour delay won't be too much trouble. Just glad I made Phil buy the earlier tickets. I like having plenty of time to get situated. Flying out to California on the day of the show in January made me a nervous wreck. Thank god Rick was waiting in line for us. Thank you, thank you, Rick! Best experience ever!!

Umm...I think there's an issue with that...Andy's post date is 5/28, so may be the 2-day discount period was for 29th-30th??

I forgot one more....

lol lol Wearing 'Depends' to stand 4+ hours in line at the Iridium lest your face go purple because you 'can't go'... CHECK lol lol

Just kidding!!! I will 'depend' on the fine NYC underground sewer system for *that* activity...of course I could always run a few blocks to the Hudson as well.... tongue tongue

You can tell I'm getting psyched up..... no caffeine required.....

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

hello all my bona-spuds!!!!!

For all the lucky ones attending I wanted to wish you much enjoyment and a stellar time at the Iridium.  Remember this is part of a celebration of dear Les Paul(RIP).  Joe tweeted photos of the two guitars he is going to use, one a 58 he owns and the other a borrowed 57.  Both Gold Tops so Joe will  be shining as always.  Write and post when you can.   CG Film is doing the filiming.  They have tweeted as well about how excited they are.   So watch out NYC, it's going to be a Rock Candy Explosion smile

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party in NY

Thanks, Mary. We will try and keep everyone updated. That '57 goldtop looks just like the one he used at the Baked Potato. Must be his go-to "funky" guitar.

Since Joe performed it once again on "Les Paul & Friends: Tribute To A Legend", maybe the guys will let him pull "The Good Luck You're Having" out of the hat for a one night (one show?) stand.  Be sort of fitting if a bit lacking in the funk (tweak it!)...

Sorry for veering off-topic.
