yeah he is sensational, but what else have they got? Come on down to hot 'Lanta, I'll check the schedule and find out when we meet.
Atlanta took the Reds 7-2 in a day game, taking the series 2-1. It would have been a sweep if not for the total meltdown by Craig Kimbrel last night. It made me very ill, I won't rehash it but that was his 2nd blown save this year.
On a positive note, Dan Uggla hit 2 dingers today. I know he's looking forward to the visit in SF to see the relatives and friends. Friday night is the matchup, Timmy Hudson vs Matt Cain.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Thank you SD for taking down the Nats. Zimmerman had the complete game loss on Saturday, when was the last time that happened? Harvey Haddix in '59 or '60? I'm sure it's happened since then but it's not often you see one. And you are also welcome since we swept the Doyers. Braves are going to be tough into the allstar break, next 50 games we have 32 at home and only 18 on the road. Live and die with the long ball baby!

A pleasant surprise when I got home from Doheney Blues. Padres earned a split with the mighty Nats. smile They are playing sound ball now and seem to be on track for more improvement. Nice job keeping those LA bums down.

Pff, the so-called or so-expected "mighty Nats" are busy on a west coast charity tour, handing out hits and runs with careless abandon. Yesterday was downright embarrassing, not that I saw anything except the result. I'd like to believe that they are just having th4e crap spell that every team has at some point nice and early this season, so that they can roar down the home stretch later in the year. Yeah, I'd like to believe that. :emb

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

After the Giants had a Rockie outing in Denver they returned to their winning ways last night @ home with an 8-0 shutout of the Nats. Thanks to an errant inside pitch by the Nats Craig Stammen Ryan Vogelsong broke his pinky in 2 places and dislocated his knuckle on his throwing hand. Sad event when he was pitching his best outing of the year blanking WSH thru 5. Tonight the Champs face Strasburg and his 2-5 record. Meanwhile LA remains mired in last place, maybe they should spend a little mo' money. Last, but not least, The Tribe is rolling, moving into 1st place by 2.5 games, but begin a 2 game series with the Tigers @ home tonight. Hope they're not clinging to a .5 game lead after the dust settles.

sorry Twins, nice try though. and with two outs in the ninth.....the legend that is El Oso Blanco continues. Freddie Freeman has the RBI single in the tenth for the win. Tim Hudson did not have a very good night, he struggled through again. Thanks again Giants.

Your welcome, lookin' to break out the brooms this afternoon. The Panda sent everybody home happy with a moon shot reminiscent of Barry Bonds. As Duane Kuiper announced it, "He hits it HIGH! He hits it DEEP! He hits it....OUTTA HERE!!!"

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Braves are breaking out the brooms as we speak, 8-0 over the Twins today. Evan Gattis (El Oso Blanco) has done it again, this time the grand salami on a 3-0 count.

No sweep in SF today, but I'll take 2 outta 3 from a contender like the Nats any time.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Braves are coming to Citi Field tomorrow night, looking forward to the series. It looks like we won't have to face Harvey unless they let him pitch Sunday. Kris Medlen tomorrow night going for the Bravos, he has struggled a little lately.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Well it has just been a delight watching the Oakland A's.

Josh Reddick was sent down to the Triple AAA team, The RiverCats^-^ to work on healing from an injury.  While he was there, he made this spectacular grab.

The local sports guy made me chuckle when he said the A's might not want to see him make that kind of grab for the Cat's and re-injure himself.  The A's must have been listening to the same broadcast because Lo and behold who appears in the line-up the next day but Josh Reddick.

They couldn't have brought him up at a better time.   He made the same type of catch for the A's that night and also hit a double to drive in a run to break a 0-0 tie in the eighth inning.
He was the post-game player 2 nights in a row.  Even got the pie in the face.  No better way to welcome him back to Oakland :ch

So wonderful to see the Great Oakland fans in their Kelly Green and Gold, eating it up this weekend, rewarded with a 3 game sweep of the White Sox.  Bartolo with a 5 hit shut-out Friday night :win

It's great watching these guys because they are such a Team and having so much fun together.
It is very infectious up to the stands in the Coliseum.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

the Braves newest ace is starter Julio Teheran who 1 hit the Pirates today for a sweep of the series in ATL. The no-no was good through 7 2/3 innings, only pinch hitter Brandon Inge was able to get in a single. so close and yet so far away, he walked only 2 and struck out 11. Bravos rule! at least in the NL east they do.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Now a new doping scandal and the Padres look to lose their two of their best starters in the event of positive findings. Some big names are in the mix. I'm glad to see MLB cracking down, though the money is so big that it probably won't keep them from cheating. hmm

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

sorry we could not help out last night at the Doyers, Zac was too much. and there's that Puig guy again, where has he been hiding? well, they still would have won 1-0 even without the GS. Braves bats die again on the road and Tim Hudson takes another loss. We are thinking that he may be taken out of rotation when Brandon Beachy comes back, to pitch some middle inning relief if needed.

well, Timmy actually pitched a very good game but you can't win if you can't get him any runs.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

on to SD after splitting the series with LA, 9:00 is a really late start for me but will try to watch some of it. I know the family in SF was happy to see Dan Uggla go deep vs the Doyers, he had a pretty good series. We come to visit at SF this weekend, and it's the featured Sunday night game.

You should have an easy time of it. Padres are down to promoting AA talent there have been so many injuries and the pitching staff has been very erratic. Gryozo ( sp? ) down with a groin pull last night and may be out for a while. He was the lone bright star they had brought up.
