Topic: Who listens to radio?

We keep talking about getting more radio play for Joe and it struck me that I don't think many people here are listeners. Did anybody first learn of Joe from the radio? Are we missing other options for exposure? Just a thought....Cathy

Re: Who listens to radio?

My first exposure to Joe was from radio, XM to be exact. I had on the blues station and they played "Reconsider Baby" (which I still think is one of his best songs) and I had to rush down to my nearest record store (Tower, rest their soul) and get Had To Cry Today.

I do mostly listen to CD's though.

Re: Who listens to radio?

I managed to find Joe on my own.  Before I got XM a few years ago, which saved my life, I only listened to terrestrial for talk (Ron & Fez).  XM gives me both, and the XM blues station rocks.  Play lots of Joe and everyone else.

Re: Who listens to radio?

So far you're proving my point. Satellite and online stations seem to suit Joe's audience better than, as Chris said, terrestrial stations. XM is a saving grace for many. Cathy

Re: Who listens to radio?

I never listen to radio anymore, except sports talk shows.  I liked Joe with Bloodline and
followed him from there.

Re: Who listens to radio?

I still listen to radio when I'm in Mississippi on my farm. They have a great oldies station in Hammond that plays a lot of the songs that don't get played on the corporate playlist stations. They don't play any Joe though, I have to play my CD's to listen to him. There are only two radio stations so far in my area that have played any of Joe's songs. They are WWOZ and WTUL both from New Orleans. WTUL is the station that Tulane University runs so there are a lot of kids that listen to it. I have never heard any other stations in my area play any of his music.

Re: Who listens to radio?

Yeah Cathy, I'm a big fan of Radio 2 in the UK....Bob Harris, Johnny Walker...they both have great taste in music and you'll always hear something new. Planet Rock on the internet and Arrow (I think that's the correct spelling) is an amazing Dutch station...(help me out here Andre smile ) that plays classic rock and blues all day long. Radio is still a viable media source in Europe.....I hope.
