Topic: Greetings from Cologne, Germany

Hello everybody out there in Bonamassaland.

I just joined this forum after reading only for a while and finally want to introduce myself.
I am Joe (not kidding) from Cologne, Germany, born in the beautiful year of 1975 and I have to admit that I only discovered Joe's music two years ago while working in the phone sales team of a local guitar shop. Until then I never heard of him so the first thing I became familiar with was his signed signature Les Paul in our store. It took one more year to get into his music but since a year I can't stop listening to all the beautiful stuff he has released.

The last artist who inspired me as much was Mr. Bruce Springsteen when I was 16 years old... There's something really special about Joe's music, playing and voice which I can't describe but it fills a place somewhere deep in my soul that was empty for too long.

I am playing the guitar ever since I was seventeen but I never became good at it. That doesn't stop me from trying and enjoying the instrument and a few weeks ago I took another shot at it and started learning my first Blues licks. Way to go...

So thank you Joe for the inspiration and I am looking forward to see some of you forum members on the road somewhere in the future.

Hi Joe, very nice to meet you.  Liked your story very much, particularly "There's something really special about Joe's music, playing and voice which I can't describe but it fills a place somewhere deep in my soul that was empty for too long."  There are so many of us here that feel exactly same way!

Meine familie kommt aus Deutschland auch, Bavaria and Freiburg.  Don't laugh.  Five years of German and where does it get me??

Good luck with the playing.

You'll be so happy here among Joe B.'s biggest fans.  Enjoy!

Re: Greetings from Cologne, Germany

Welcome to the forum! I was a huge Bruce Springsteen fan but in my opinion much of what he's done since The Rising is shite. And I go back to his first LP.

Thank you very much for your warm welcome.

@bump827 I won't argue about the quality of other musician's work in this forum but of course I respect your opinion.

Absolutely - his shows are still good especially when he does old stuff. But to me not worth seeing in a stadium. Then again not too many artists are - just loses something.  Far too many artists like Joe I appreciate more now

Well I've got my ticket for another stadium show in July... my 9th since the Rising Tour... I love the last album btw. ... So our opinions simply differ.

But like I said... it's nothing that I will argue about or get too much into detail on this board while it's not the reason I came for :-)

Hey Joe, welcome to the forum. Enjoy the good company and Joe B obsession. big_smile

Re: Greetings from Cologne, Germany

I don't pop in on many introduction posts, and appreciate those who make time to extend welcomes to the newest members of our extended family.

Welcome, Joe...as you know from lurking, you're in good company, here.

We can help you feed the Joe "jones".  That's a monkey I happily carry on my back, too. wink

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Welcome and greetings from the Ruhrpott.
Would be nice to meet you some day ... the blues world is small and a number of people travel a lot.
This Thursday there are some Bonabuddies from the Netherlands in Duisburg (me included) to see Aynsley Lister.
And on Friday it's Ryan McGarvey time: We travel to Viersen to see Ryan McGarvey doing an acoustic set, next day on to Roermond and the day after back into the Ruhrpott to Zeche Hansa.
CU on the road, maybe.
