Topic: Allman Brothers 2013 Beacon Run

Wow, kicking it off with style!  One of my favorite Hendrix tunes, and one you almost never see covered:

Re: Allman Brothers 2013 Beacon Run

I'm going tomorrow and Wednesday and then the final three nights. The rumor seems to be Julke horns tomorrow and/or Wednesday.

Great video. And Derek is the the spirit incarnated of Duane. At the Beacon shows they often show images of Duane as Derek is playing a similar slide run and the comparisons are so come to life it's scary.

Does Derek slip in and out of channeling Duane, even on the same tunes?  Two years ago TTB at Doheny didn't thrill me and I didn't hear much Duane. This year if you closed your eyes it was like Duane was still with us in at least half the set.  I think I got good audio of their set, but Im still working on Joe's torrent. DIME is a PITA!

I'd think he does, he's a great slide player and guitarist in his own right. But at times it just seems - as you pointed out - that Duane has taken possession of his playing and Derek seems to channel Duane. Looking forward to the TTB set when you get it up.  We're seeing TTB a few times this summer. At PNC with the Black Crowes and back to the Beacon the two nights in September at The Beacon.

I know n the ABB site there is always discussion on Susan but I like her and the combined band. I saw her in Boston in 1999 for the first time and unfortunately didn't win the blue Strat they were raffling off at the local bookstore.

Im tempted to go to the Sin City Blues Festival just for them, but I'll have to cash in the World Series next month to justify the cost!

Last time I was at PNC was Roger Waters' DSOTM tour. At intermission I was pulled out of the beer line by a couple because the girl HAD to have pics of herself with "Jerry Garcia". smile

Oh man.  We're lucky on the East Coast with shows.  ABB, Mule, TTB, Grace Potter and all their incarnates.  We're doing both PeachFest in Scranton and Grand Point North in VT this summer. I haven't done festivals in a while. We have VIP tickets for both as my bad foot won't hold up for standing long.

My son graduated from U of Scranton 4 years ago almost to the day. I used to use visits to him as an excuse to catch a show at Montage Mtn.

I think I've skied there! In former days.

When do the tickets normally go on sale for The Beacon Run?
I am planning on coming across the pond for 2 or 3 shows in March. It would fantastic to see Warren an Derek on stage together.

Normally mid January. They did I believe 11 shows this year.  If you join the Peach Corps there s a presale but not all the best tickets go on sale.  There may be some ther presales from credit cards like AMEX
