Topic: Gino Matteo

Sitting in the sun  having another cold Doheney Delight while waiting for the anticipated bands to play and this guy came on with his band. I had no intention of shooting vids of unknown to me artists but after listening a while, the heck with saving batteries for later and maybe not greater acts. He said this was the biggest gig of his life at Doheney. He deserves better. He played and sang his tail off and was very well received by the crowd.

This man, his great voiced wife and band are playing up in the Bay Area soon. That's a heads up pals. I got the last two songs of his set. A great and inspired slow blues kicks it off, then a song sung by his wife to close. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GylRyF0Uass

Definitely agree, though "Valerie" without Zalon Thompson dancing/singing lacks a bit lol.  something didn't quite compute with his story though. He said he was playing in the parking lot 2 years ago, but then I saw a t-shirt from the  2007 DBF (I think) with his name at the bottom, so it wasnt his first time on any stage there.  I spoke to him after and hes playing a festival or two and Bay Area as you said.

Mind of a Junkie didn't do him justice either, imho. His bluesier stuff was a bit better?
