Topic: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

Another Super Group?
Has Joe made it trendy for 30 something blues-rockers to do this? lol
Good for KWS though, I'd love to see him play a setlist he hasn't played since 1999. I might have a chance with this new band The Rides.

Definitely piques my interest, hope it lives up to the hype.

Oh boy, inspired by the Super Sessions is enough for me. pretty sure this will be a no brainer purchase, thanks Nic.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

I'm going to have to increase my budget for music purchases, that's for sure.

Amen, about the Super Session reference.  Hooked me as well.

Added to my list of purchases to be made.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Unfortunately Mike Bloomfield left this world many moons ago, so I wouldn't expect this to sound anything like Super Sessions which was as far as the blues goes, all Bloomfield (side 1). Maybe the Stills tracks (side 2), could be relived in some form. Super Sessions was 2 distinctly different albums in 1 package. According to Wiki, Stills was called in at the last minute when Bloomfield failed to show up for the second day of the session, insert drug addiction assumption here, and that's how this became 2 very different album sides. A winner nonetheless.

I hear you J Dawg, about Mike Bloomfield leaving this world long ago.  I was a big fan of The (Paul) Butterfield Blues Band.

I'm not expecting this to sound like Super Sessions, which I do own.  "Inspired by" sounds pretty good to me, though.

Aware of the history behind Super Sessions, and really dug Albert's Shuffle (still do).

I'm an Al Kooper fan, as well.

You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth!!!! I never ever heard anything negative about Noah's vocals...the man has a set of pipes like no other, I think Noah is absolutely AWESOME!!

This is still my favorite song from their latest... Dark Side Of Love.

His voice is fine but his onstage persona is just annoying as hell!

Agree to disagree on that one brother. Noah's awesome all the way around.

I also love Noah Hunt, hell of nice guy too.
I agree to a small extent with holdem that his moves on stage are fairly predictable, as is the entire KWS setlist. Will be nice to see Kenny play something a little more "fresh."

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

I can relate to the persona thought...I just chuckle, when it's a bit grating (for anyone, not just Noah).  FWIW (forum heresy spoiler alert), some people I know feel exactly that way about Joe B.

I'm looking forward to hearing Kenny's contributions on this project.

And agree that he needs more fresh material, as well.  Everyone can't be as prolific as Joe, on that count.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

I don't really like his voice, call me a retard. but he is a rocker and added so much to Kenny's music through the years. I'm sure he's a very nice guy, stage antics don't bother me in the least. My understanding is that Kenny can sing, but didn't have to with Noah around. I'm looking forward, yeah to some fresh stuff and hearing him sing with Stephen.

Re: The Rides = KWS, Stephen Stills, and more

This should be interesting and love to see what songs they come up with.

I am not too much into Kenny's voice.  I like him more as background vocals. But love his blazing guitar.

He was very shrewd to find 2 fantastic singers.  Corey Sterling is hot as hell as a vocalist.
"Break the door down I'm comin' thru blazin' both barrels" blues-rock singer.

Noah for me has a more smooth, soulful voice.  Loved his vocals especially on "Blue on Black".

"Holy Toledo"  -  Bill King   "Just Win Baby" - Al Davis  "The Autumn Wind" - Steve Sabol
