Topic: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

WOW! WOW! WOW!

What a freakin' awesome show!! Billy Squier was a guest as well as Blondie! The Crossroads that Billy Squier did with Joe was just so freakin' amazing. Totally different than the one with Warren Haynes. You wouldn't have thought it was the same song. He also played on Yonders Wall.  Blondie Chaplin played on Ballad of John Henry and it was one of the most killer John Henrys we have seen. We were at the meet and greet and Joe told us who the guests were going to be. He said he had tried to get Beth for friday night's show, but he didn't ask her soon enough and she was already busy. We really want to thank Roy Weisman and Bob for trying to straighten out the security guards. Bob literally came down with Phil to talk to the security guy near us to make sure we could record and film. What wonderful people Joe has. I filmed the songs with Squier and Blondie. With the litho vouchers we ended up with front row center to the right of Joe! The lights were somewhat difficult for the camera at that angle, but oh well, it'll do. Will be uploading momentarily. Tal noticed us during the acoustic set and smiled, and at the end of his part he did the horns gesture to us. Then at the end of the whole show when we were standing at the stage, Tal pointed at my Rock Candy shirt and he slid his drumstick across the stage to me! Thank you Tal!!!

Had a really nice dinner with some Bonanation Facebook people: Gloria and Brian, Jim and Darcy and others. Also met JoeBeacon and he and Phil talked about taping.

What an incredible end to a truly magnificent tour! Thank you Joe, Tal, Arlan and Carmine!!

What a roll you folks out East had. Thanks for the report and vid. I just rolled in from day 1 at Doheney which was killer, but that's another story. Tomorrow, one last stop for Joe out here and then vacation! big_smile

Re: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

Absolutely epic John Henry! Arlan was literally on top of his keyboards at the end of his solo, Blondie had an amazing solo and Joe just went completely off on his! May have been the best one of the whole tour. My mouth was just hanging open for I don't know how long afterwards. Roy Weisman came down towards the stage at the end and I just looked at him and mouthed the word WOW! He gave a little nod.

What a treat. Thank you for these vids. So good to meet you both in Baltimore. Glad the recording issues with security were sorted out.

Re: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

nmagcorn....Thank you so so much for your efforts with the videos you posted this week!!  A great way to keep my buzz going all week after Monday's Philly show.  You captured great moments for the Bonahistory book.  (Great John Henry w/ Blondie Chaplin!)

Thank you for letting us all share in them.

Re: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

I'm glad I could do it for everyone. Felt like I was on a mission smile. I know how grateful I was for everyone's efforts at the London shows, so it's great to be able to share with others what we have seen.

To Joe and all the guys.....  GREAT SHOW!!!!

I was able to catch Joe outside signing a young players guitar, as well as got to catch up with Carmine outside before the show.  You all continue to show that you do not forget where you come from, and really treat all your fans very well.....which brings me to my one complaint of the night....

I know I am newer to the forums, but I must vent here a little bit......

Not in all my days, and in all the concerts I have been to, have a seen such poor etiquette at a concert.  This is the Beacon Theater people.....not Giants stadium!   The Beacon has a rich history of having some the greatest performances in history, and Joe and his Band are part of that history.  For the first half hour of that show people were still coming in and trying to find their seats; first and foremost (IMHO), a complete disrespect for the people on stage, not to mention being very disruptive to everyone else who chose to actually show up on time, and be where they were supposed to be when the lights went down....IN THEIR SEATS.

If you were one of "those" people last night, and you consider yourself to be a "huge fan"....... try showing up on time next time.

OK.....off my box now.

Again, Joe thank you again for a great musical experience, can't wait to see you again in November; my 6 /o daughter was very upset she couldn't be at the concert last night, so I told her I would bring her to one of the Atlanta shows in November.  Continue doing your thing, and showing that the Blues are still alive!

Thank You!

Totally agree about people being disrespectful and want to add that the constant chatter by people was absolutely ridiculous. If you want to talk the whole time, stay at home and watch Joe on a DVD. You are at a live performance, shut up and listen.

Re: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

Exceptional show last night again. Just a pity I was on a tight schedule and couldn't meet up with forum members. Especially to spend more time with Alan (Bump) and his "crew". Jet lag took over after the show.

Highlights were Mountain Time, Midnight Blues & John Henry. Missed hearing Dislocated Boy & DTTD. Was surprised by Billy Squier as his albums that I have are different to the style he used last night. Kudos to Blondie Chaplin.

We were in the upper balcony and I lost count of the number that were late for the show up to the acoustic end. Well over 50 who then continued to go back and forward to the bar. But I didn't let it distract me.

We'll catch up some other time Kenny. I would say that while the audience was for the most part completely unaware that Joe starts on time once they did arrive they (in the orchestra all three nights) stayed seated a lot more than other crowds. The ABB audiences I've seen first of all stand for the entire show and it seems most of whatever row I'm in feel the need to drink mass quantities of liquor. With the requisite bathroom breaks to go with that consumption.

Indeed a killer version of two cool cats playing and singing the roof off. Love, love, love their passion of performing it !!! GREAT...

Re: Beacon Theater 5/18/13

Just uploaded Django/Mountain Time and I am sooo pleased with how this one came out! At times Joe was directly in front of us and the clarity and color, especially on Django is just phenomenal. And I was able to hold it really steady. Can't believe what a good job this camera does.
