Re: SLOE GIN .. LYRICS .. SIDE 1

Hi SRV,

That is a great line isn't it!! The Falls is just northwest of Milwukee. HOB/Chicago?. That's my first of four Joe shows in five days. Got Gold Circle row 2 for that one. Then the next night in Milwaukee, my butt will be parked right next to my 10 year old son Ben in the front row right in line with Joe. Lots of friends and relatives at that one right behind us in Row 2. Then Monday it's off to Green Bay where Jaci from the forum and her husband Ken secured us Row 2 tickets. And finally, Tuesday I'll be front row again in Wausau. Let's see that's Joe + Bogie + Rick + Carmine X 4 = One Hell Of A Fabulously Great Time!!

Roy

Damn.....and I thought I was gonna set a mark in Nov.....HOB in Chicago, BB's in NYC, and then closer to home on the 21st.....

I must admit, when I saw him in June, I wasn't much taken by the keyboard.....I guess it was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" syndrome.....

But without Rick, the title cut doesn't work, nor does much else on the CD.....so.....hey Rick.....yer aces mate.....

My take?  JB has a vision, and he's mappin' his way up the ladder.....

Carmine is one of the best bass players I've ever seen.....and I've seen 'em all.....

Bogie.....I was a drummer (I was gonna say before I grew up, but that never happened...), and it's a kick to see a drummer have fun at the kit.....yer good man.....

I think I was starting to walk then 8-)....'52.....

And my son's name is Ben!!  'Cept he's 25.....but he loves the blues.....and his old man's cookin'.....

Glad I happened in here last night.....this is pretty cool.....

Like I said earlier Roy, thanks for the welcome.....and I swear I'll get over to the introductions page.....I put it on "the list".....

But, just for the record.....I could teach college level courses on procrastination.....

Welcome SRV..from a 49er. ouch..If you go back in the posts you will see a link to a review of the Pittsburg show that resulted in Pittsburg Jeff's avatar and quote..it's great! We're all glad for any helpful input..You cook? You'll find lots of fellas here with that talent, esp. Roy and Jeff..Why do you all have to live so far away? I'd gladly give up cooking! Lot's of love for the late great SRV here also.....Cathy

My best friend lives on Long Island.....and he gets spastic over some of the crap I've been through.  I tell him, it don't make much sense lovin' the blues if you never lived 'em.  Then I tell him he got the Long Island White Boy Blues.....

Fortunately, he still talks to me.....

Yeah baby, I got a great sense of humor.....but I never felt pinned by Roy.....quite the contrary.  I felt welcomed.....

Peter Green, in my eyes, is the best guitar player living.....if not ever.  I saw him at the Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh in '70.....when he was subbin' after Jeremy Spencer booked.

It was a religious experience.....

I'll be sure to check out the link, thanks Jane.....maybe I can send you some tunes.....my 'puter is oozin'.....

Hey Cath.....thanks for the hug.....

If you guys don't stop it, I'm gonna turn into a liberal!!!  (OK, no more politics...)

Joe Montana is a Pittsburgh boy.....and the niners went down hill after he left.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

<<You cook?>>

Yeah baby.....I cook.....

<<Lot's of love for the late great SRV here>>

I take a lot of heat for using the handle, but it's a price I'll pay to keep his name in the light.....and that's the only reason I choose it.....

Thanks for the welcome Cathy.....

Hey Jane.....

Forgot to mention.....for JB to cover Green Manalesi right, he'd have to walk in the footsteps.....

Do they even make LSD any more??

All of a sudden, I feel incredibly old.....I'm gonna lie down now.....

Excellent work but one slight correction Michael.
In Sloe Gin, prior to all of the 'Ain't even high' phrases, it should read 'so damn loaded'.
Much more in tune with the song theme.
cool

Hey UK.....

I couldn't disagree with you more, sorry bud.....

The whole point to the song is "I'm so damn lonely..."

BTW.....listening to Sonny Landreth's "Congo Square".....now THAT is a tune JB oughta cover.....
