Topic: TRYING TO GET SOME JOE OUTTA KFOG/SF

Just talked to the morning show DJ Dave Morey and asked him when they were gonna start playing Sloe Gin, not just pluggin' the show. He said I don't know I'll talk to the program director with a little 'tude in his tone. They might be holding back to feature him in they New Releases Thur. format. Keep up the e-Requests.

Re: TRYING TO GET SOME JOE OUTTA KFOG/SF

As in negative 'tude? I felt the same way talking to the afternoon DJ yesterday.

"Sloe Gin"  should have been on new release Thurdays weeeeeeeeeeks ago. "Ball Peen Hammer" (among others) would get massive reaction on KFOG..........and if I hear "Stray Cat Strut" one more fricken time I'm gonna puke up a hair ball.

I really dont get it. KFOG is, if I'm not mistaken, the only radio station thanked in the liner notes (You & Me also) and zero airplay. Hell they even played a cut off of the Back Door Slam disc last night. What gives?

Maybe the payolla for play is still alive and well.

Just fired off another to them, I asked for "black night", it's not that long, if that dont work, I'll send my brother down there for an "attitude ajustment"

Keep up the great work......Sactown Shred

Re: TRYING TO GET SOME JOE OUTTA KFOG/SF

The KFOG that Joe included in previous liner notes not just Y&M, but on previous discs was owned by Susquahenna Broadcasting. They were bought about a year and a half ago by a company called Cummulus who also owns 107.7 The Bone and KNBR AM Sportstalk Radio. As a consequence I believe the DJ's have no control over what is played as they used to. Freeform FM is a thing of the past. If the program director eventually gets stroked appropriately maybe then Sloe Gin might hit the airwaves. KFOG's mantra used to be no repeats during the work day, but I heard the Eagles new single 3 times today. Is this coming in loud and clear? I don't think Joe's gonna see the light of day until somebody gets greased. I'm bound and determined to get to the bottom of this because I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!!!!!! WOW! pretty dramatic huh????

You go Dawg!!! With all indicators showing the future of music is in cyberworld, you would think radio stations, record stores, etc. would be more "in tune" with what the listeners request! The fact that they got a shot out on the new CD makes it harder for me to understand why they need proding at all!! So, sign me up to contribute to your bail fund if needed.....Cathy

Ahh, now I see.  I was not aware they were bought out.  I also heard the Eagles new (old) single a couple of times.  So, my incessant e-quests are falling on deaf ears?  I've been requesting Ball Penn Hammer.  And this isn't the only artist this has happened to.  Last week I requested something by an artist who has been near and dear to my heart for 25 years on the  anniversary of his death.  That also fell on deaf ears (and KFOG plays him occasionally, but not enough).  Sounds like I'm removing them from my car radio program.

edited to add:  and as soon as I hit Submit, they play a commercial for next week's concert. There is some hope--just wish they'd play some JB.

I think another problem here is Joe being an independent artist. There's only so much $$$$$$$$ to throw at promotions. Keep bugging KFOG and maybe they'll get the message.

Re: TRYING TO GET SOME JOE OUTTA KFOG/SF

Just got off the phone with KFOG's program director and he said they have been playing some of Sloe Gin. I haven't caught one yet, but I can't stayed glued to the radio. I asked if they were gonna feature him on New Releases Thur. and got a definite maybe (insert masturbatory hand gesture here). They are promoting the SF show, but nothing sells a live performance like a taste of the artists music. Keep up the e-Requests Street Teamers!!!
