Topic: Why I love Joe

In the past several days I have seen some really great interviews given by Joe to paper and online press.  I watch them in amazement because he is so humble and funny and shy and all about the gear and music.  These traits and his musical ability make him so likeable  and endearing.  He was so honest in these interviews and I think about some  other artists and how big their egos are and look at all the fans that follow them and think, WHY?

Joe is easy to love first just for his talent, second he keeps us guessing by doing something different all the time and lastly he is just himself. No big show or entourage just Joe Bonamassa, Guitar Geek and  lover of music.

Thats pretty good in my book  smile

Re: Why I love Joe

Pretty good in my book too. wink

Well worded and good synopsis, I think you may very well have summarized many of Joe's fans feelings.

How long have you been following Joe?

Re: Why I love Joe

Angela. I am a relative newbie.  Saw Joe for the first time May 2012.  My husband followed him prior to me so I have been aware of him for about two years or so.

Re: Why I love Joe

I love newbies, I kinda' thought so from your post. When you first get hooked, you wonder where you've been that you didn't even know Joe was out there. THEN, you just want to shout it from the rooftops to share the Joe love, so any & all music lovers aren't missing out. Then you say to self, when was the last time I was this excited about new music!?

My hubby was listening to Joe first as well. We're lucky ladies, huh, our hubbies have good taste all the way around. wink We first saw Joe in July of 2004. (I'm trying to remember if I ever posted in that thread about...your first Joe concert-sometimes I don't have enough time and I intend to go back, but never get there... lol

Enjoy the musical ride, its fun enjoying Joe's career success with fan benefits of wonderful music!

Angela, YES YES YES.  Sometimes I feel SO excited about Joe I can't stand it.  The mere mention or thought of his music is exhilarating.  If anyone is within 20 feet of me they better take cover because I'll start talking and talking about Joe, and then I feel sorry for them if they have a blank stare!  Once in a while it "takes", and at the very least the seed gets planted.

I talk about Joe to everyone I see when I visit my 88-year old mother.  She's from the Patty Page era and I never thought I'd have a shot with converting her, and I never even thought she was listening.  Well, last night she called me and said "What's that Joe guy's name that you like?  He's on TV right now!"  Eureka!

I need some Joe...NOW.

Amen. I'm a relative newbie as well. I've never seen him on his own. And after getting tickets to the two shows at the Beacon in NY I HAD to get tickets for the third. And organizing a meet and greet with just us fans.

And in what other artist forum does the artist actually post? He's replied to some of my comments!

Sums JB up perfectly, so extraordinarily talented, but has kept his feet firmly on the ground, maintains a real modesty and cares about his fans.

I just wish I had discovered him earlier than just two years ago, but given his insatiable appetite for touring I'll be into double figures in a couple of years I hope..... Roll on September, but enjoy his shows over the pond in the meantime.

Re: Why I love Joe

Decided to post on this subject again today.   Feeling much Bonalove for all of you  and JOE.  Another reason I love Joe Bonamassa and his music is that it has  brought me so many new friends from around the world.  Just blows my mine that One year ago on May 7th I saw Joe for the first time live and in person.  In the span of 12 months  and 6 days I have went from having  no music in my life and a few close friends to needing music on around me, sharing music with everyone I know, feeling a desire to learn to play the guitar, talking to complete strangers I meet about Joe Bonamassa and on and on as you well know.

I have become a better person because of music, my marriage is better because of a new shared interset, I have friends all over the world that speak different languages but we all speak JOE.  so there you go.  I am so glad that Joe is on fire right now and that I am here to witness it with all of you. Thanks for listening.

PS to Jane, I think listening to Pain and Sorrow today actually made me dance with JOY ( go figure)

Absolutely so true.  I've met people from music forums before (how I met my current partner) but on none of them was a sense of the artist really being "one of us". The stories about him meeting fans and commenting on this board are surreal.

Re: Why I love Joe

Okay,   feeling much love of all things Joe today and thought I would resurrect this again.   Only two blu-rays into the Tour De Force from March 2013 and I am so happy for Joe.  I hope someone submits this stuff for some type of awards.  The filming, the music , the interviews with crew and band members and producers.  Just the best.    I know that I am a bonaholic and not very impartial but Joe's music, stage presence, and knowledge just keep growing.  I told my husband last night that one day Joe is going to play so great and well and perfect that he is just going to explode like the birth of celestial star. So thanks Joe.  I have had much Joy this week because of your music. Truly dig being in your galaxy.

Re: Why I love Joe

I agree with this all 100% - I always felt kind of silly because I find I enjoy an artist's work more if they're a good person. Not just artists, any public figure really - athletes, actors, etc. Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Re: Why I love Joe

I love Joe because he is a fine musician,  has a wicked cool sense of humor and is bold in his choices of music he plays and covers.  Looking forward to a fantastic 2014 because I get to do a mini road trip and see him in Lexington and Nashville.  I love Joe for giving me something fun to do when  I am bored at work.  I listen to his music and my work day goes by so fast.  I love Joe and his band because they each could be stars in their own right. When they play together they do something magic and have fun on stage. I imagine touring can be a chore but they always make us feel like we are the only audience they play too.  Thanks for sending out much good into the music world.  Never forget that for every hater in this old world there are just as many fans supporting you and your choices.

Re: Why I love Joe

Love this topic WVgirlinky!

I agree 100%

Re: Why I love Joe

I love Joe because he made it in the music business by doing things the way he wanted. He didn't conform to the standard, and through perseverance and hard work he made it! I just wish I would have heard of him sooner, but you can't take back time! I still remember my dad coming in my room and telling me to listen to this new artist he had discovered. All of his cd's and dvd's later here I am, a obsessed crazy fan! LOL Joe's down to earth attitude and the way he respects and sticks up for his fans really draws me to him as well. I also love how Joe has introduced me to so many different artists I never had heard of before! My music vocabulary has expanded so much and I love it! Anyways I could go on and on...Love you Joe! Thank you for everything! Also forgot to mention he's just so cute how could you not love him wink <3

Re: Why I love Joe

After discussing being brought up following and seeing Free & Led Zeppelin, I said to Michael in Amsterdam " I just love where his musical journey takes me". It's as simple as that.

And it could be Europe, USA or Rest of World smile
