Topic: Hi from the UK

Hi to everyone.  I'm Paul and live in the UK.

I think Joe has a very unique style, touch and dynamics. I grew up listening to Clapton, Beck, Page, Knopfler amongst others.  I watched the Albert Hall concert and could hear some of these artists within Joe's style.  What a great concert it must have been, especially for Joe and his family.  I really liked Joe's version of 'Stop', wouldn't it be awesome if Joe and Sam Brown could do a version together.

I managed to get tickets for the upcoming show at Manchester in September and will be taking my wife along as she also enjoys his music.  In the meantime, I'm listening to his back catalogue.

All the best, Paul.

Re: Hi from the UK

Hi again and thank you for the welcome.

I love the guitar and started playing 37 years ago.

I have a lovely Fender 'Thin skin 61' in candy apple red, a 1976 Gibson les Paul deluxe, a 2012 Les Paul Standard, a PRS Swamp Ash Special with narrowfield pickups, James Tyler Variax JTV69 and a Takamine 12 string acoustic.

I still favour the Les Paul with 60's neck profile but the Fender is a stunning guitar and sounds great.

Best of all, I have a very understanding wife who loves music and enjoys concerts.

Re: Hi from the UK

Great stories. When I went to the NY Guitar Show last weekend I was instructed not to "bring home more than one new guitar" and I actually listened. For now....

Re: Hi from the UK

Alan,

I suffer from the same affliction re guitars.  I have little self control if I find one that 'talks to me' when playing it.  It usually ends up coming home with me for good.

Amplifiers come and go but guitars stay.  There was one amp that I regret selling, an early mint condition JCM 800, bought in 1982 and sold in 1984, foolish decision.
